Hi all, I followed the tweaks suggested on these forums such as, WiFi scanning off, HD calling off, location wifi/network etc and after a few days I am starting to see some fantastic battery life for a device of this size.

As of now:

12h 42m off battery
14hrs left
Battery at 47%
SoT: 3hrs
Display brightness: 35%

WiFi and BT running all day over 4g Lte, also have a moto 360 connected over BT. It's now 10:18pm and I am done for the day but this is really starting to shape up, thanks for all the tips and tricks this forum provides, they have come in handy.

Thanks, this is refreshing... Somebody willing to do a couple of tweaks and then getting great battery life in return, check over the M9 forum a battery life thread and you will see the same, after a couple of tweaks people are getting better battery life.

That's all we have been trying to do here, help the ones in need, I'm so glad that some of you can begin to see the great device this is and what it's capable of.

I'm also getting great battery life with my S6 edge, at the end of the day its on around 50% left which is very good with just over 3 Hours SOT.

All i've done differently is turn my brightness down to around 30% which is more than enough and turn off location. I've also got my WiFi as turned off when asleep. (Dont think its viable to keep Mobile Date Off as i wouldnt get any Whats App Messages due to Wifi also being asleep)
I've also disabled the Google Voice App and i personally dont use it. (This has also made the device slightly more faster IMO as i'm not getting that teeny tiny delay when opening the App Tray.

At the moment my phones been on for about 4 Hours 30Mins and i'm on 93% Battery which works out at over 1.5% per hour (only been making a few calls and checking mail though)

One thing that is weird is that the first 1-2% always goes quite quickly but the device levels off after awhile. I'm thinking of just turning off the Battery Percentage as that could actually make you go crazy watching it go down.

New phones out of the box come with everything turned on and running at full speed. You always have to do a little tweaking to get battery life right. In addition to what's been mentioned turning off S Voice will help as will turning off NFC and wifi scan. Go into Google Accounts and disable anything you don't need updated constantly, like newsfeeds. If you want to read an article you can refresh those manually. Also, disable any apps you're not going to need. Having them run in the background drains the battery.

I read about all the "tweaks" that must be done to get great battery life...and I'm OK with that. Been tweaking PC's and phones for years now. But what about all the other issues with the Edge in particular? Now that you have great battery life do you have a screen that is not scratched? Does you GPS work consistently? Does your Auto brightness turn itself off, or when it's off does the screen brightness change when it's not supposed to? Does your screen rotate as it should or has the gyroscope been fried do to excessive heat generated by the fast charging? You know, the battery will last for several weeks on one charge when the phone is shut off because it doesn't function!

For what we are "all" paying for this piece of ....technology...( I know what you thought I was going to say ;)) this phone should be able to cut my grass and wash my car!

Yeah I have been tweaking the setting on mine as well and I can report that I have as of this morning been 28 hours on battery and it is telling me I can go 18 more at the current pace before needing a charge.

During that 28 hours I have use the phone for several phone calls with at least two lasting an hour. Been searching on the internet, been running wifi the majority of the time. I have s health turned on. I played about an hour worth of games. read and sent a few e-mails and several text.

I went to bed last night and I even left the phone off charger, 43%, and woke this morning and the phone was at 38%. I also have the time displayed in the edge from 9 pm to 7 am.

Last week I wasn't getting anything, mostly 6 hours between charges (wasn't running it totally dead - maybe down to 35/40%)

After turning several things off and setting up the phone this is where I am today. I'm probably done with the tweaks and I'm pretty happy with the battery life at this time.

No scratched screen here.
GPS works.
Auto Rotate works since 4/16/2015 around 8 pm. (camera is not screwed up either)
I've fast charged mine like 4 times now -
Screen brightness seems to work at this point.

We will see where this goes in the coming days, if it all remains.

I too am not having any of these other problems. No scrolling lag, no rotation issues, no purple spots in pictures, GPS works great, auto brightness works great, manual brightness works great, everything works perfectly, no scratches on screen (though I did receive two like that, which I sent back immediately). While there are clearly some unacceptable quality control issues and many people frustrated with problem devices (some of whom have received more than one problem device), I think we can't really know how many people out there have devices that have no problems, because most people turn to forums when they are having a problem, not when they are happy.

One little observation: It seems there are more people with problem devices that were shipped to them from the carrier, rather than purchased at a store. I could be wrong here, it's just something I've noticed, that's it's usually "I'm waiting for my replacement phone", and less often "I took it back and got another one"

My phone (and I'm sure a lot of this Forum's users) didn't have a single issue of ALL the ones you mentioned, I'm really sorry for all the people that had those issues, that's what the 14 days are for, but you sure sound like if this is something that only happened to the S6/edge launch, and pal, it isn't. Tell me a single device you can go to a Forum right now, that there are not dozens of people complaining on similar issues or even worst, sorry but ALL devices suffer from one thing or another, even after months of initial releases you still see issues and people complaining about it, that's the nature of it, it is not supposed to be that way but in reality, it is. Quality Control in most companies S*ck..

I have been getting much better battery after hard resetting and making a few minor tweaks. Haven't experienced the cell signal drain like before so here is to hoping this will hold until a permanent fix comes down the pipeline.

How do you disable HD voice? Other than that, I've done everything else and battery is okay now. I used ODIN to reset the phone and didn't use any of the add on Samsung stuff and did a clean install, no restore of anything.

Did you do a factory reset also?

If you are considering the Full reset, try doing the Wipe Cache partition in recovery Mode first, then if not, try the Factory reset also on recovery mode.

That is kind of a loaded question. Complicated but here you go.

I got the phone, however it was connected to my gf's line. We swapped phone upgrades. Her s3 died like a week before out so I gave her my update back in January. When I ordered this I used her upgrade. That is the back story.

So when. I called Verizon to set this up over the phone they had me rush through all the settings so I could swap the numbers and they could verify I was up and running on my line.

So as soon as that was done I did a total factory reset because I wanted to start from the beginning and set it up and go through everything they ask.

So is that a yes to a factory rest? I believe before i did the reset it downloaded a small update. After the reset I don't think it did that, so assuming it already did it when it cranked up the first time.

Then I went through the verizon cloud back up and then restored all pictures, text mesaages and data. I then did the swap from one phone to the other using the nfc by touching the old and new phone together.

Now, I didn't get all the text messages and it definately missed a few apps that I had to get from play store. Obviously play store didn't recognize I had them either.)

Did it last night, still in process of adding music, pics, apps... back but so far its good... battery life will improve hopefully (fingers crossed)

my edge 6 had the same issues with horrible, terrible, battery life, I had to charge my phone 2-3x per day. It was shockingly bad. i returned the phone due to a faulty edge screen light, the next phone was just as bad with ridiculously bad battery life. I had to return the phone again, when i realized the ATT store had given me the wrong phone (I wanted the 64G they gave me the 32G). When in the store I asked him to disable the ATT email, since i had noticed it constantly backing up my contacts, and I dont even want to use it. The new Edge 6+ now has Wonderful battery life. i only have to charge it every 1.5 days.! So, now not sure it those first two phones were just faulty, or if that ATT email app was really the problem. Now I can keep wifi on, stream you tube, go online and everything and th battery ilief is amazing now. Its is a complete night and day difference. So if you have ATT, try disabling their email app. and if not, maybe they just had a bunch of bad phones issued? and see if you can get a new one.
