Getting Rid of HTC 10

sometimes, i think some of the issues are depending on your device history... somehow, i am getting blackberry forum dejavu, because i see the same reactions on both sides (defending and bashing)... however, let me tell you my dear htc people, that this forum is better than the hate-love for bb phones... anyway, i was thinking, after owning so many htc devices, could be that you are just tired of the brand for not delivering the product you want? because those extreme remarks (for instance, the camera is garbage) sounds to me like you are just expecting something else... yes, apparently the update was necessary but i don't think the app was just plain garbage... it will be sad if another great brand leaves the market, because more options, better for consumers/customers... and let's be fair with htc, they delivered a real contender (maybe not perfect in some few areas for some people but which phone is it?) with top notch specs, and well-thought features... didn't work out for you? not a problem, that's the magic of options... any given product won't be for everyone (except when we will be in the space future, where according to all the sci-movies we all will wear the same clothes)... enjoy your choice!

I agree, I'm not saying the camera app is garbage. I'm saying that the HTC software engineers simply do not have the talent to match the hardware with great image processing. I'm willing to bet Apple, lg, and Samsung could get this HTC camera to perform better with the exact same hardware. Yes, choice is good, but HTC won my heart with the OG EVO and the m7 and ever since they've disappointed. They're kinda like that teen-ager of yours that you love dearly but you just don't like em! Lol, I got one of those too.

yep... i mean, i have had bb phones for years and i love them, especially how easy is to handle communication... but then you see this feature that you are missing in your beloved brand and you wish the phone could have that... in this point depends on how your priorities are, if the features that you already have in your chosen brand are more important than the features that you don't but another brand has... and then, people leave because the grass is greener on the other side of the fence... but guess what? now you are on the other side and you start missing the stupid little brown grass you had before hahaha...

I won't leave HTC for gimmicks and image processing. I use my phone a certain way only iPhone and HTC can handle

Looks like only one pic attached here's the other. This one is the Nexus 6p. It's not a beautiful pic. However, it shows how the 6p can show the dim foreground as well being able to see out of a bright window in the background. The HTC 10 completely blows out the leaves from the plant as well as the window. Not to mention, the detail truly suffered on the 10. That's a simple shot that's way too underwhelming regardless of another software update coming due. How does that kind of poor *** imagery make it passed a final inspection?

I'm not following your logic. Unless HDR is being applied you will lose details in the shadows at the expense of preserving the highlights and vice versa. Even with this shot of the 6p where the highlights are retained, the shadow details in the curtains and pot are reduced compared to the HTC 10 shot. Scenarios like these are a no win situation. It will boil down to the question of which image processing a person thinks is correct (subjective) vs the one that is correct (objective). I didn't know the camera was garbage though. First time hearing that one.

If the EXIF data is available for each picture, I'm curious to see what type of metering is being applied by each phone.

I never both too. HTC 10 was great when my kids didn't move, but Samsung ois still work brilliantly with the moving. The first one was taken by htc10 and the second was by s7

I have had the opportunity to use both the 10 and the S7 together. I recently upgraded from the M7 to the 10. I also upgraded my wife's S6 to the S7. It's been about two weeks and we have taken pictures side by side of our two boys, 5 and 7 (who are constantly on the move). Indoors, outside, in a gym, etc. I can tell you that in each circumstance and under the same conditions there have been some pictures that have turned out better on each camera. There has been motion blurring, under and over exposure, backlighting issues on both cameras but not that often. My wife only shoots in automatic mode, I mostly shoot in automatic but have been playing around with the manual mode on the 10. Both cameras have produced acceptable results in 95% of our use.

Since I use the 10 mostly and this is an HTC 10 post, I will tell you that I have only experienced a couple times that there were focusing issues. I can also tell you that IMO in automatic mode I notice the 10 shooting in HDR mode quite frequently and not using the flash. So far, I like the colors better with the HDR mode as opposed to the flash. I would also highly recommend any 10 user to experiment with the manual mode, you can get some pretty good results !

As you can imagine, the 10 is a vast improvement on the M7 camera. If pressed I would have to give the S7 the slight edge in camera use. We are both on the Verizon network, so I am using the 10 without the most recent upgrade. I have high hopes that the update with improve the camera on the 10 even more.

Off the camera subject, I can also say the my wife has noticed little improvement in battery life on the S7 over the S6 (we had higher hopes). After a few battery cycles I can say the battery life on the 10 is much improved from the M7. When at work and not on my phone much but connected to wifi, I have left work with the majority of my battery life left after a 12 hour shift. Also, the sound through headphones is very good. I am very happy with the 10 experience thus far.

Hmm...I have no problems with Wi-Fi or focusing. Hmm...

I don't have problem with wifi but about focusing he is damn right. At night it is really hard it get focus even indoor it struggles I value camera less I have other problems with 10, like navigation buttons too low often I am hitting above them. Vibration motor not good, One A9 had great vibration feedback. Sound from speakers don't like it at all I used to watch movies on phone even at times without headphones but now headphones are only option. bTW speakers are actually stereo. I like the display and performance is great but initial setup was terrible made my 10 stutter so bad. I like how it look though. I have Nexus 6p along with 10. For pictures(Camera) I prefer 6P for movies also, 6P cuz stereo speakers and that AMOLED ( yes headphones output is so weak on Nexus ) I has S7 edge before 10 but there is something about Samsung I just don't like Samsung as my daily driver. Hoping Nexus 10 ;) by HTC would be awesome great camera better than 6P and sound output from headphones be powerful as on 10 and keeps AMOLED display oh yes that stereo speakers at front of display too

I don't know if I would get to 6.5 hrs SOT but I snap the shot Here. This is some awesome screen on time. I am loving this phone

Glad someone is able to be objective. The 10 is a good phone and it looks like the camera was just updated through the play store, but it still isn't as good as the 6p. it seems to be focusing a little better and I'm not getting the laser auto focus error nearly as often. I'm going to attach two more photos. Maybe you all would like to guess which is HTC and which is the Nexus 6p. They are both using auto HDR, which I happen to love on the 6p as it will even flash while taking an HDR image. I can't seem to be able to attach two images while on mobile so I'll send them separate. Can you guess which is HTC and which is the Nexus?
