Welcome to Android Central! You might get a better response if you post your question here: General Help and How To - Android Forums at AndroidCentral.com.

Is your phone the Telecom T4010? Here's the manual: http://help.telecom.co.nz/ci/fattac...t/1/filename/Telecom T4010 - Quick Manual.pdf. On page 31, it describes doing a factory reset by first powering off, then pressing the Volume Up and Power buttons at the same time until the screen lights up. You might get some prompts after that to ask you if you're sure you want to do a factory reset. I'm only speculating here, since I don't have any experience with the phone.

Hi I have been given an android table , Teamgee -E1 android 4.1 Exynos 5 Octa 5410, I have connected the wi-fi to my wi fi router, but get the message on the tablet sorry exchange services is not running. Any idea of how to fix it?

Hi. I'm new to this forum and to smartphones in general. I'm old and old school, so I thought I wouldn't get into the smartphone thing. I bought a Prism II for TMobile, and it runs Android 4.1.1.
I tried the voice dial app, and the sound recorder. Both seem to not pick up my voice at all. I downloaded another app called Sound Recorder, but that gave the same result.

I'm looking for instructions for Android that will tell me how to set up the two original apps, and make the microphone pick up my voice when I talk. I can't find that anywhere. Can anyone here tell me where to go to get that kind of instructions? It seems that basic instructions for Android are lacking. I'm finding that the basic stuff I can just 'follow my nose' , but these are some more detailed, "under-the-hood" type of settings and techniques.

Thanks to anyone who can help.

Welcome to Android Central! Are you sure there just isn't a problem with the phone's microphone? Try installing an app called Sensor Box, which can test the mic (along with all of the other sensors the phone has). I'd post a link for you to the app, but the computer I'm working on right now is pretty glitchy, and isn't giving me access to Google Play.

I tried Sensor Box. I didn't register anything when I spoke into it It did however, show a graph for me when I had I-heart radio playing. So, what was it measuring then, when the only sound was output from the phone? Also, if the microphone is not working, I would expect that I would not be able to make calls, but I can do this.

Oh, I didn't realize you were still able to make calls--since you mentioned the voice dialer app not working, I thought you meant nothing was picking up.

Not sure if I'll be able to help you further. How new or old is the phone? If it's pretty old, it might just be starting to malfunction in general. Have you tried rebooting the phone? If that didn't help, what about a full factory data reset?

Update:

Now when I open the sensor box and try the sound sensor, I can see the graph reading change when I talk into the microphone. I don't know what changed, but now Sensor Box seems to show me that my microphone is working.
Also, voice dialer seems to work. It's a little confused when I say "Call Josh at home" I get a choice of a) call josh at home or b) call Josh on mobile. But it does pick up my voice.

The original sound recorder also seems to work, I can make recordings. Ditto for the after market Sound Recorder.

Not sure if the google voice search actually works yet. And I'm listening to music & radio to see if google search interrupts me. So far, it hasn't reared its ugly screen.

Now I'm mystified. Why do all these apps work all of a sudden?

The phone is about 2 months old. I make calls the old way, by dialing numbers or selecting a contact. When I make the calls, the other party hears me just fine. I have been fiddling with it for about 2 days, and I did reboot it, at least, I took the battery out and replaced it again. I haven't done a full factory reset. I hope to avoid that because of the hassles with replacing all the apps, data etc.
I stumbled on to this when google search kept popping up and interfering with my other apps. It comes up with a microphone icon and a message to tap the mic and talk. When I did this, it didn't respond. I got the idea that I couldn't get google (voice) search to go away because the phone wasn't correctly set up for voice, and it kept trying to start & restart and it couldn't. I don't really care if voice search doesn't work, as long as it doesn't interfere with my other apps. The voice dialer just came up because it is voice activated as well , and I found that it didn't work either. So I thought it was a phone setting. But my ultimate goal is to make google (voice) search stop interfering with me. Can I switch gears and get on to that issue instead?

In what circumstance is Google Search popping up? Is there a search button you might be hitting by accident? Are you bringing up Google Now, which is usually activated by pressing and holding the Home button, then swiping up? Or does it seem totally random?

Hi all, first post here..

After using Android phones for 3 years now, I still haven't found a way around this:

Most of my apps have a text-entry screen or a numeric-entry screen. They're often lovely to look at, but (duh!) most do nothing else but sit there and act as a splash-screen and wait for me to tap in the text-entry field so as to open the keyboard. Each time. A hundred times a day.

Hardly any of my apps open the soft keyboard automatically when, frankly, there's nothing else that can be done on that screen view.

I cannot find any way to have keyboards open automatically when required. This seems so essential I'm quite sure I've missed some basic setting!

(Using Galaxy SIII, Cyanogenmod 10.3, PimpMyRom, none of these will do the trick).

Welcome to Android Central! I believe that's by design, since it's usually more beneficial to be able to see an overview of the screen first, without the keyboard immediately popping up and obscuring half the screen. Once the user is ready to enter characters into a field, he or she can tap that field to bring up the keyboard.

my sim card is not supported by my phone. what can i do?

Welcome to Android Central! Several questions:

1. What phone do you have, is it new, and where did you get it?
2. Where did you get the SIM, and what wireless provider are you using?
3. Can you talk to your wireless provider and ask them for a new or compatible SIM?
