Getting Tablet Talk???

Since I just got an N10, I've heard that I can use it for texting. I don't have a smartphone and I don't text with my cell. However, I just gave my grand daughter my old Kindle Fire and my daughter is going to get the grand kid set up for texting with it. I have sort of an unusual phone setup. Besides our cells (which are on prepaid plans), we have our home phones set up as wifi using OBi110 and Google voice. Of course we have Chrome, Gmail, Calendar, etc.. We have a Google tel number already. I've read some good reviews re Tablet Talk, but I'm not sure if it would be the best for me. None of these apps cost much so that's no concern to me. I don't want to mess up our existing phone system though. So far, we've had no phone problems. We use the answering machine on the vtech base unit. If it's off, the calls go to Google voice. I'm confused about which app to use for texting. Currently we don't have any blue tooth devices in use. Thanks for any comments.

i think tablet talk need a smartphone with tablet talk app installed on it for it to work properly
if you have google voice number and want to text from it use google voice app in nexus 10
