Getting tired of waiting for Bionic...

Again though, why is Verizon getting the sloppy seconds of the phone world.?? T-Mobile of all phone companies is getting the best lineup with the best timing. Why does that seem to wrong??

Come on Big Red, step up your game!

This has been an ongoing thing with Verizon for years. They have been very lazy IMO about getting great phones. It is not to say that they don't eventually get some good ones, but typically those phones don't have anything new or great in them and are instead based off phones that went to other carriers well before Verizon releases them. The only reason most even stick with them is because at the end of the day they are the best network, much more reliable in most areas. If Sprint was a bit better I probably would have been jumping to them instead of waiting all this time for a new phone for Verizon.

I have been using a Storm1 in which I have to reboot at least 5 times a day. I have been waiting since November for this phone.. I am willing to wait until the end of the summer for this phone or any dual core that is released 1st.. With the Targa you can't go wrong or you can't go wrong with a beefed up Bionic either meaning. 1gb of DDR2 Ram and a better FFC. you do not want to regret your purchase When either of these phones get released...

And here I thought my Storm1 sucked, I only have to reboot once a day. Of course I had mine replaced last fall after my first one decided it wanted to reboot frequently and normally would do it twice in a row.

I want a new phone badly but I'm willing to wait for a dual core so long as it looks like it is coming out by the end of summer.

Storm 1 here as well. I use Meterberry to reboot my phone at 4am daily, but it has been quite stable with the hybrid OS I've been running. However, I'm done waiting and work finally approved the Thunderbolt, so should be getting it next week.

I was about to get a TB earlier this week until I found out they stopped the one year contracts. I guess it might work out well for me so long as the Bionic comes out this summer. Hate having to wait but I prefer to get one phone that I feel will last me a while and was not going to get that with the TB.

I'm in your boat too... Now that it's not coming out anytime soon I've been actually looking for other possibilities. I might have to wait as long, but the SGS2 looks amazing as well...

Oh and I'm rocking an original Alias.

I'm going to assume politics are involved. T-mo is probably a little more carefree about what they put on the shelves, which is fine, as it gives their customers plenty of selection. Verizon is much more picky, this is exhausting to customers (and maybe manufacturers are a little tired of it which is why they keep making gsm devices) but in the end they sell a lot of devices (which makes manufacturers happy) and really great devices (which makes customers happy)

as much as I like to have the latest and greatest, my dinc is wearing out (i've been rough on the poor guy) and i've had an upgrade sitting in my pocket since december, so i may just get a dinc 2 or a rev, certainly not a charge since that thing is hideous. either way me waiting on bionic is pretty unlikely.

I don't think Verizon is "picky"; I think they just don't care. They get their customers based on their network, not their phones. Smaller carriers like T-Mobile need to entice customers with phones and plans since they don't have the network to rival Verizon. If Verizon started losing customers to T-Mobile or AT&T due to cool new phones on those networks I'm sure you would see new phones coming out sooner on Verizon.

Also don't forget that GSM will always have more options than CDMA or LTE (at the moment) since they are global standards. Handset manufacturers will bring out GSM models first because the worldwide market is much larger. When (if) LTE replaces GSM as a global standard then this will change. But for now GSM rules.

LTE will pretty much be the global 4G standard (the future does not look so bright for WiMax). Would be nice if the world agreed on a very limited number of frequencies for LTE as it would make global devices competitive (ditto carriers), but I fear that there will be severe fragmentation that won't make the present situation much better, and will effectively screw the consumer everywhere.
