Gingerbread coming to the HTC Evo Soon? Sprint's site says so...or it's a typo...

That is tough to believe, bcuz if 2.3 drops soon, I won't even budge for a Evo3D.

Keep in mind that when we got updated from 2.1 (Eclair) to 2.2 (Froyo) there wasn't a lot of noticable changes, just under the hood kind of changes. The update from 2.2 to 2.3 will probably be very similar, in that a lot under the hood will change but the UI will remain, pretty much in tact. The EVO 3D, in addition to having the next gen HW, will come with a totally new UI. These two factors alone will have a lot of people jumping ship, unless they are rooted and have access to the newer UI ROMs. With Radio Shack hosting a trade in program that will get EVO owners into an EVO 3D for $99, it's almost a no brainer.

How would this work if your currently under contract?

I just checked and it says ships with android 2.2, so they must have changed it back....

Yeah, it looks like this was one big false alarm. They were support to advertise the EVO 3D as shipping with Android 2.3, but someone applied it to the EVO by mistake. Sprint's site has been corrected and now we are back to guessing...

Ahh. I didn't know there was a gold and silver premier account. So, the Silver account lets you update 2 months before a non premier account? Doesn't sound very "premier" to me...

I believe it as a forecast of Gingerbread to come, Sprint was just hoping we didn't notice the "typo".

I bet gingerbread will be coming very soon for us.

Target Mobile kiosks also have a trade in program... I just got my Evo for $20 after trading in my Blackberry Bold 9700. I got $125 for it...

I believe someone posted this was an error. It was suppose to be for the EVO 3d which would make sense.

Not so fast. I think most Evo Heavyweights without a scheduled upgrade will standfast, with a 2.3 update and let the noobs have at it. I usually pay for price for phones when released, not this time.

I would just like to know what exactly are you guys expecting from 2.3 upgrade. As I posted before, I have the Evo and Epic on 2.2 and now a Nexus on 2.3 and there is not very much difference in terms of the OS to write home about.

As for Sense 3.0, I remember reading on the AC blog sometime back that HTC has no plans to update the Evo to the new version do to lack sufficient of memory.

Now that is a good deal. I wonder if they are going to offer anything similar for trading in an EVO for an EVO 3D?

I wonder if the AC news that the Droid X is getting Gingerbread on Friday will move up the roll out for GB on the EVO 4G. A little competitive jealousy can't hurt.
