Gingerbread loss of data connection / 3g

I (and others) are having a problem with data connection / 3g loss. and the only way it gets fixed is by a reboot.
I have 4 DX's (mine, wifes, parents) all 4 phones do the same thing.
and there is a thread on another forum where others have posted having the same problems.

I'm trying to cast a wide net to figure out what commonalities we may have.

Basically the symptoms are this.
from personal experience it seems going from wifi to 3g, sometimes it just never turns the 3g on.
but the catch is even if you have some sort of widget to turn 3g/data on or off, that doesnt help, only a reboot will fix it.

other symptoms are you'll get the 0:00 issue when you try to make a call, it hangs up right away and displays 0:00 on the screen.. again only a reboot seems to fix it.

please post your specs and if you have to reboot or not (please post even if you don't have these problems)

I experienced a similar thing before I moved to Liberty. I found that putting the phone into airplane mode and taking it back out generally fixed it. That might be worth a shot.

I had the same problem before GB, it seemed like it happened a lot more at that point. I have rooted GB. Going into airplane mode will not do anything, it gets stuck and a reboot will complete the airplane mode and give you a signal. I have heard that contacting VZW will sometimes result in them resetting something on there end or pushing something to your phone that can help with the problem. I have had no personal experience with that. If you want give it a try and report back.

what's the other thread you saw? has anyone had any luck? i'm having the same issue.

It seems we have the same set up.
On other forum there is 40 or so post of people *****ing about the same problem, but not a single person has posted their specs.

can someone who is NOT having this problem please post specs?
there has to be some common issue

I contacted VZW today and they said an update is coming...no estimate as to when, but they said it was in testing....

I have this issue. I noticed when I turn my Wifi on/off, it fixes it. Seems like the Wifi hangs (i.e. I'm nowhere close to the AP but it says I am).
