Gingerbread update is coming!!

But I think the question on everyone's mind (mine at least) is when will Touchwiz 4.0 come?

Hopefully with this update? lol didnt the Infuse for released in Canada get TW4?

Half of the dump for Gingerbread is already released to the Mods at XDA. The Custom Infused Rom is a big hit and now hes gonna integrate GingerBread from Canada, into it. Be on the look out in the Custom Roms Thread I just introduced if your interested.

my only concern is when? I saw they have already pushed it to the Atrix, the Inspire is slated for an August push and then no timeline for any other phone, so if they follow a 1 phone a month push we could still be months away from an official GB release. Hopefully that isn't the case.

Nevermind

Will this affect rooted Infuse phones? Coming from the world of iPhones, I just wonder. :)

The update will definitely unroot your phone. But you can re-root it after. And the phone won't be able to update to GB if you've deleted apps, flashed to a custom ROM, etc.

So we'll have to flash back to oem rom to get the update. No problem, just let me know when.

If Gingerbread is all that, then flashing performances ROMs will be for ??

When the ROMs are integrated with GingerBread, its better to flash them if you do those kind of things. The developers make ROMs with much more enhancements compared to what Froyo or Gingerbread alone deliver.

I think GingerBread just brings like better battery performance, Different UI in some areas. I dont think it brings anything thats like crazy to go over. But basically Google would be working on stuff that is compatible with GingerBread moreso, compared to just Froyo and Eclair. IE: Google Talk with Video Chat like on Nexus.

Thanks. I knew about missing apps, and that's why I have not deleted anything. I use an app organizer and never look at the Applications app that came with the phone. As for the "unrooting," well, it was scary to root the first time, but now I know it. :)) I take it that GB will not trash apps I've installed after rooting my Infuse.
