Gingerbread update is coming!!

I would much rather be stuck with android 2.2 than be back in the iOS bubble again...I had all of the iPhones with the exception of the 4s (guess what the "s" stands for...) and can easily say I am DONE with iPhones, unless they decide to run Android on them :)

every so often my wife and I end up switching phones because the grocery list is on hers and I do a lot of the shopping. Even her iPhone 4s just does not cut it with iOS5. The notifications still are not as good as on Froyo. Same with my iPad 2.

I agree with you 100%.

I got the phone bc it was free an has a 4.5in screen with hopes it would be updated to 2.3.5 Gingerbread...Ive tried to flash it with Odin but I have no idea what im doin there bc it always says invalid image...so I really hope Samsung/at&t dose this soon...it should have been done months ago...I had the same prob with my moment and transform on sprint...I always get the phone that takes forever or never gets the update....

You'll never have Gingerbread 2.3.5, the latest AT&T Gingerbread leak is 2.3.6.

It is very stable. There's a rooted version and the unrooted stock verion. I flashed the stock version, then flashed Entropy's kernel to give me root.

To flash the unrooted stock version, put phone in download mode, load the tar.md5 file in the PDA slot and click start.

Do you really think we are going to get gingerbread on the infuse this time I'm new but I've been hearing this for sometime now.

No. We will never get gingerbread. You have to get a custom rom because att doesn't give a crap about us.

This is the reason why I, and others are clinging to the smallest thread of hope we get Gingerbread. Call me naive.

Motorola ATRIX? 4G users will receive an update to Android 2.3 beginning today and HTC Inspire? 4G users will receive the update in the coming weeks.
Motorola ATRIX 4G update will also provide the ability to download applications from third-party stores.
HTC Status? arrived in stores July 17, the first AT&T smartphone running Android 2.3.
Upgrade Details

Customers who purchased an Android smartphone from AT&T introduced in 2011 can expect to receive an update to Android 2.3. All of these devices are planned to be upgraded from Android 2.2 to Android 2.3, also referred to as Gingerbread. In addition, Samsung Captivate? owners will be able to upgrade to Gingerbread.

Delivery methods will vary by device. Whenever possible, upgrades are delivered over-the-air (OTA), however in some cases the size of the file needed to install the update will require the user to connect via Wi-Fi or connect the phone to a PC to install the update. Factors such as manufacturer-defined software and other device performance improvements result in each device requiring a separate update which will vary in timing.

Beginning today and continuing over the next few weeks, Motorola ATRIX 4G users will be prompted to install the update. To download the update, users must be connected via Wi-Fi. In August, HTC Inspire 4G users will be notified that the update is available and can be downloaded when connected to a Wi-Fi network. AT&T smartphone users can access at any one of the company?s more than 26,000 Wi-Fi hotspots at no cost.

The AT&T smartphones planned for a Gingerbread update are:

HTC Inspire? 4G
LG Phoenix?
Motorola ATRIX? 4G
Pantech Crossover?
Samsung Captivate? 4G
Samsung Infuse? 4G
Android 2.3 (Gingerbread)

I'd be curious to know which of the above phones actually have been updated to GB.

HTC Inspire™ 4G - YES
LG Phoenix™ - ???
Motorola ATRIX™ 4G - YES
Pantech Crossover™ - ???
Samsung Captivate™ 4G - ???
Samsung Infuse™ 4G - NO

I'd almost rather be told sorry...it's not coming, than to wait and wait and wait. Then I could go the way of root.

again? damn... I`ll believe it when I see it ..thats all i can say... But I should have enough money for the iphone5 when it comes out next year :-$

Probably never. They want you to buy new phones to get new operating system. If you're under contract you just have to wait or pay full retail price. The Infuse is 2 generations behind on operating systems so I really doubt we will see any upgrades.

What are you talking about! We've been getting the AT&T Infuse Gingerbread 2.3.6 leaks for a couple of months now. We even went from 2.3.5 to 2.3.6 before some other phones.

Matter of fact the latest leak KK4 is real close to the consumer version. Only problem is that I'm guessing that when it's released you'll have to do a complete wipe to install it properly.

Don't beleive me? Check this out: Sampro

[ROM] I997UCKK4 [25.11.2011][Android 2.3.6]

Hey Cranky, how does the KK4 ROM compare to something like Infused 2.2.3 (if you know)? That is what I am using now and so far it is the most solid ROM I have tried. Although I have not tried any of the leaked GB AT&T ROM's but I have tried several i9000 ROM's and nothing comes close to Infused. Any thoughts on whether or not it is worth the switch?

I got tired of waiting for AT&T (or Samsung) to give us the upgrade so I just bought a Galaxy S2 Skyrocket. it has 2.3.5. My girlfriend will get my Infuse. The Skyrocket is fast!
