Gingerbread Update Pros and Cons

You have to have HTC sync and the update file.

Ok, I just got a HTC Inspire. How do I back it up? I'm assuming you use HTC sync. where do I get it? Also, for those of you that are having battery issues, I would suggest that you turn your phone completely off, the charge it. Leaving it on to charge, still drains some of the battery while it is on the charger.

The best way to backup it is Titanium Backup (requires root). HTC sync will back up some things though. Just google it, it is on the htc.com page.

Turning your phone off to charge it doesn't really do much for you (other than slightly faster charge) compared leaving it idle.

Thanks for the tips. I do however have to disagree with you on the battery charging. I've had several phones from Motorola ( StarTac,Razor v3, BRUTE i686, i576) & Samsung SGH-A887), to name a few. For all of them, if I left them on while charging, the batteries dies in <4hours. Additionally, at Motorola we tested each phone for battery life and the results are very significant.

Please note that some applications have processes running in the background and/or unexpected data requests. Bluetooth is a big battery killer as well.

On the battery charging topic.... Same reason they say to charge fully when on then even more with it off before clearing the battery stats...

I love my froyo Inspire. I don't want GB. But yesterday morn GB arrived on my Inspire ready for installation.

Is there a way to get rid of it from my notifications list? (other than installing it) I'm already tired of seeing it on my lockscreen! (and also the download arrow at the top left all the time)

I would say you are in the wrong area. The best place for you to get help would be from a Rom dev maybe here on ac in that section of the forums or over on XDA dev...

This update has caused my inspire to lock up more often than not when it connects via bluetooth to my car. It was FLAWLESS prior to the update.

Recently my Inspire has locked up when I am viewing streaming videos and hit pause. The keys stop working (including the power button) so all I can do is pull the battery out.
