Gingerbread Update: Reliable Information Only Please

Dang battery life, no hope there. After full charge, 82% after the stupid splash screen, and it takes almost a minute to boot up. Please droid bionic come out soon going to demand verizon replaces the phone.

Most company's are on a fiscal calendar February to January of next year which mean the second quarter hasn't ended yet

Verizon Communications Inc. uses a normal calender year. They work on a January - December fiscal year. I looked it up to clarify.

Regards.

In order to accidentally call someone or send someone an email while the phone is in your pocket you would have to bump the power button then somehow slide the unlock ring to the icon representing one of these, then hit all of the buttons to send an email or to place a call. It is pretty much impossible.

Obviously everyone is obligated to their own opinion and I respect their opinion, just pointing out some things.

I get "pocket calls" from from friends all the time - but never from anyone with a Droid phone.

All this "fiscal year" stuff is irrelevant IMHO. When a company (any company) presents to the public (its customers), via an advertisement or similar publication, a reference to a product being available in the 1st, 2nd, 3rd or 4th Quarter, they are referencing the calendar quarter, not the internal fiscal quarter. Unless they specify otherwise.

I concur.

For GB you would have 2.3.1. This is not officially available yet.

You can request the updates yourself by: Menu ? Settings? Scroll to bottom? Software Update? Check for updates.

To check: Menu ? Settings ? About ? Software, should be Software 1.70.xxx.x if you have the MR2 update. 1.12.xxx.x (none) or 1.13.xxx.x (MR1) if you don't have MR2.

Do you know when in Q3? This is rediculous to have the "flagship 4G LTE" phone and still be on Froyo. I realize it isn't you who makes this decision..... but it would be nice to have a little info as to when to look forward to this.

Thanks!

Why do u call it a flagship device? If its not listed as a Droid then its just another android phone. The current flagship device is Droid Charge.that is just how vzw rolls. As old as the thunderbolt is you think it would have GB by now.

All due respect.. but.. According to you just because it wasn't made by Motorola it is "Just another Android phone". So because Motorola just happened to call their phone a droid its the original? If I remember right the HTC Dream was the first Android based smartphone, not the droid.

In the respect that the Thunderbolt is the FIRST 4g lte smartphone for Verizon I would say that it is in many ways more of a "flagship" phone than any of the droid phones.

Looked it up and found this.

"The first commercially available phone to run Android was the HTC Dream, released on 22 October 2008."

The Droid didn't come out till mid October of '09.

And for the record, the Droid Charge does not have GB either.

Regards.

Well, I don't know the technical stuff too well, but haven't people said that the MR2 leaked updates were basically preparing the phone to run Gingerbread properly? Now that the update has been officially released, I'd think Gingerbread will probably be out within the next 2-3 months. The end of July seems a bit too hopeful, to me, but I'd say some time in August isn't necessarily out of the question.

No, not really. What the deal is, is that the old radio software (pre MR2) is not compatible with Gingerbread. The new radio software was needed to improve the radios. Regardless of the Gingerbread impact. But, of course, the new radio software was made compatible with Gingerbread.

It was said battery management that broke the exchange push function on the previous motorola devices so no thanks to any motorola device until they get rid of the blur!

I know this wasn't the official word but after trying many different settings and seeing it sync immediately upon plug-in kinda points to that conclusion.
