Give me Gingerbread so I can leave this forum

i found the problem why you are having issues with your TB

you keep saying your hand will get dirty if you work on your phone

my phone is clean

maybe the "dirt" is messing up your phone.

i would recommeend a small shop vac, a can of copmpressed air, and some of those electronic cleaning wipes

maybe some gojo from some of your car buddies to clean your hand

glad i could help!

Great ideas! thank you. :D

I find that complaining makes everything better. Either wait for another update or root and be happy. I'm not sure why these posts need to be constantly made *sigh*

Mike getting bent out of shape AGAIN!!!! Nothing new here... after Gingerbread comes out you will be screaming about something it's not doing correctly... then Ice Cream Bar... then...

I think being bent out of shape has more to do with my age than my phone.

I don't scream about a phone - I have, however, screamed INTO a phone.

The ice cream bar OS probably won't work on the TB, it will be for the dream phone after that.

Well, maybe they are constantly made because complaining makes everything better?

........maybe complaining is why my TB isn't one that reboots. :D

It is nice to have choices, and the iPhone is a nice choice. Perhaps an iPhone 5 is in my future.

Just for clarification, you are saying the Droid is an imperfect device and the iPhone is perfection? :D

AND Droid users prefer phones that don't work so they can tinker with them to see if they can fix them? ;)

Maybe they should be called DYI phones. ;)

The iPhone sacrifices function for usability in many cases, in my opinion. If apple can't get a certain feature to work right and without bugs, they don't include it. Sure, it works right out of the box, but in the past users complained about not having multi-tasking, or the ability to shoot video. Those features have been added slowly, yes, but at the expense of usability for many early adopters of the platform.

By it's open source nature and the fact that it's designed to run on a vast variety of phones, the Android OS is bound to have more bugs...but at the same time users of Android have a lot more customization options, and have had less restrictions placed on what we, the users, can control and what features are accessible (even without root access).

Some prefer the former, some the latter.

this thread is turning into a "*****" fest, we all have our own problems with the phone and opinions so we really cant justify pushing our own thoughts over his. He is dissatisfied then so be it, apple will release a phone that accommodates the basic functionalities of a phone, if he doesn't realize whats locked on the iphone or know how rooting makes his phone better then he wont notice why android is better that apple and be just as satisfied with an iphone!!

+1

Well said. Lack of Flash support in the iPhone is a prime example. Although, this was probably not strictly a technical decision. Probably mostly a licensing decision.

Thank you for your eloquent and reasoned post. Your points have been well taken.

So now that the DX is getting Gingerbread on Friday, how much longer will we have to wait before HTC/VZW release the official GB for the Thunderbolt?

The last rumor I saw said that it would be out by the end of June... and yes, I know I can flash GingerBAMF if I don't want to wait. :D

The fact that an official build has leaked means it's probably not too far off...the fact that the leaked built still had quite a bit of bugs and non-working components, however, means that there is still work to be done. Late June is probably a good estimate for the EARLIEST possible time frame for a release of an office stock GB update. Just my hunch. If I had to guess? August...especially since a lot of folks who would otherwise be working on the GB release have had to switch gears on work on fixes for the last OTA update that screwed up a bunch of devices. Most likely, I'm wrong -- I have zero insider info.

HTC Thunderbolt issues abound, but a fix is on the way
HTC Thunderbolt issues abound, but a fix is on the way -- Engadget

Something not working correctly seems to be the general theme for TB.

Maybe someday (before the end of my contract) they will get this phone fixed.

Well the 3G/4G transitions were supposed to be fixed with the new firmware (1.13.605.7, 1.16.00.0402w_1)
So that is totally reliant on the network, and what radios Verizon makes available

If your text messages are getting deleted you may have screwed things up with the flashing process. You either didn't wipe properly, used ROM manager to flash, or restored some system data that interfered with your setup. I was running BAMF 1.6 for weeks and never experienced any problems like that.

Wrong - It's an KNOWN android issue that has yet to be resolved and was said to have been resolved.
And the phone is supposed to work. It's not supposed to go from 4g to 3g down to 1x then back to 4G and show me an arrow of stuff going out but nothing coming in. Happens all to often for this phone to be "ready" even when rooted.
