Give me Gingerbread so I can leave this forum

Is anyone else tired of waiting to have the Thunderbolt work as promised?

I would like to just be able to use this phone - as advertised - and never come back to this forum until the end of my contract.

Wouldn't it be nice to just buy a phone that worked as promised from the get-go, and not have to worry about it until it was time to get a new phone?

But that is what I did. Bought a phone that works as advertised, worked as promised from the get-go and have never worried. I also like to read this forum because through my INC and now TBolt I have learned enough and continue to learn so that I am not crippled by user error, faulty user set up, bad apps or unrealistic expectations. Gingerbread is not going to solve your problems, unlikely that a different phone will either.

Wrong - It's an KNOWN android issue that has yet to be resolved and was said to have been resolved.
And the phone is supposed to work. It's not supposed to go from 4g to 3g down to 1x then back to 4G and show me an arrow of stuff going out but nothing coming in. Happens all to often for this phone to be "ready" even when rooted.

Wrong. The firmware was supposed to enhance network connectivity (among other things). Whether it helped you or not is one thing, but it did improve my signal quality overall.

Then I am doomed.

Funny thing is the op is being directly negative when he flamed me for thinking I was in my thread :p

Well the 3G/4G transitions were supposed to be fixed with the new firmware (1.13.605.7, 1.16.00.0402w_1)
So that is totally reliant on the network, and what radios Verizon makes available

If your text messages are getting deleted you may have screwed things up with the flashing process. You either didn't wipe properly, used ROM manager to flash, or restored some system data that interfered with your setup. I was running BAMF 1.6 for weeks and never experienced any problems like that.

That is the main culprit of issues. I had nothing but issues when flashing BAMF 1.6.X via ROM manager. Flashed in recovery, not a single issue (reboot, battery drain, SMS issues) since then.

Still waiting. :'(

Despite all my posting on this forum this year, I'd really rather NOT be here. If my phone worked the way it was originally advertised, I would have never joined this forum. I still look forward to the day the fixes and Gingerbread finally come so I can leave this forum until it's time to buy my next phone......I'm sure some of you are looking forward to the same thing......as well as the fixes and Gingerbread. ;)

I love being apart of Android Central. I have been here for a little while. I like hanging out with you guys. I guess the OP don't. :p

I agree that one shouldn't have to root their phone, but it's worth doing. People jailbreak their iPhones too so it must not be all gravy under the Apple tree either.

The people here are fine, I'd just rather get the fixes and the only OS upgrade this phone is ever going to get so I can stop checking for them. Once those come out the Thunderbolt forum will pretty much die out anyway. Some will hang around and continue to pat themselves on the back for buying this phone.

At some point I'd think EVERYONE would get tired of talking about their cell phones on an internet forum and go do something else.

You must know something the rest of us don't about what will or will not be upgraded on the phone! Also, if you think GB is going to solve all your problems, I am afraid you will be disappointed. It will bring its own as all software updates do and then there will be a fresh round of complaining by somebody ( not necessarily you) wanting a fix yesterday. It is very predictable.

Actually most of the people here who aren't complaining about releases either want to learn about their phones, fix a specific problem or help others do so. I'm more in the first category as I am still fairly new to the TB and android in general. I haven't found a problem yet that hasn't been addressed in another post, so I don't tend to ask questions.

Now, I am afraid that I must go do some stretching so I can get ready for my self induced back patting!

Please tell me more about your kid........PLEASE. (like father, like son?)

No PLESAE STAY im serious , we all love your very funny little dittys, you are a credit to these Fourms. PLEASE DON'T GO, PLEASE DON'T GO, PLEASE DON'T GO, PLEASE GO,PLEASE GO, PLEASE GO, PLEASE GO, PLEASE GO, PLEASE GO, PLEASE GO. Woops SORRY I wasn't supposed to let you know how I really feel.

Root and get your bamf on. Trust me its nice. Then you can come back to this forum with more love. Don't be scared to root!

I'd like updates to straighten out shut down issues but I actually don't want Gingerbread at all. I can't think of anything it offers I want and it will disable Lightflow and I like Lightflow.
