Giving up on my s4

I love Go Launcher, from all the themes, to their widgets, to the speedy performance. Good stuff.

Not rooted, Stock rom, just Awesome (NSA)

I just got Nova. Seems like it does all the good stuff. Only thing missing is the weather widget. Notvsure what touch whiz stuff I might be missing.

I went from the HTC one to the s4 and there is no going back for me. I haven't experienced any lagging or anything and I'm still stock. I've wanted to root, but thanks to college I haven't had any time. You can't go wrong with either :)

Got the updated the other night and I did notice a bit better performance from the phone. But not that much. Still get some hiccups here and there, but the lag was never enough to bother me in the first place. If it really means that much to you you owe it to yourself to get what makes you happy. And I agree with shoii. The best place to ask that question would be in the HTC one forms. I don't go over there myself cause i'm not interested in the One, but i'm sure the guys over there will help ya make a good choice.

I've already turned off animations but found it didn't help much, the main lag is in the gallery and the time it takes the lock screen clock to refresh when you wake up the phone is horrendous for a flagship phone . I always thought not having a removable battery would annoy me (that's why I always stuck to samsung) but when I have thought about in all the Samsung phones I have had I never bought an extra battery. I am torn between making the switch or rooting and flashing a custom romantic in the hope that it will rid the phone of the lag.

If the Gallery is laggy it could be slow reading the external SD card. A regular SD card isn't fast at all. Ideally you should get a faster one.

There's a Sandisk app that will test your SD card and recommend the ideal model.

I have an S4 and can't complain. I do lots of stuff on it and it hardly ever lags.

The s4 doesn't lagg! You must have a faulty unit!

TAPATALKIN FROM MY HTC ONE, ON THE NOW NETWORK!

Get nova launcher, do the developer option animation off, clean cache(every other day) and set nova to faster than light. Some touch wiz options can still be used in nova. Enjoy. If it still lags after that than theres something wrong with your S4. My 32gig rocks.

Seems like modding would be your best bet.

The HTC One is nice and I love mine but the S4 is also a very nice phone. The battery on the S4 is also bigger so it will last longer.

Just depends if you want to root and rom or just trade in.

I went from S3 to One then back to S4. HTC One is nice, but there are many things that I didn't like about the One. I love my S4. I am sorry to hear that you have all sort of issues with your S4. Did you have those problem you mentioned from day one? Can it be app you install? I will recommend as other did by doing the factory reset and see how it goes from there. Good luck with ever phone you decided to go with.

I've had a white HTC One now for a few months.

Beautiful to look at and handle, good front speakers, crisp display and top notch GPS and WiFi connectivity (vastly better than the One X).

Go for it, you wont regret it...

I have a One but I am jealous of the s4 5" screen as well as 13mp.
I tried the sony xperia z launcher port because I love its weather widget,I dont know if you have this port too on S4 but its worth a try

I dont have any lag on my news S4, are you sure its not one of your apps causing it, or having to much stuff running...ie... live wall paper, and some weather widget and several other widgets running....all those things eat up memory and processor, close programs you are done with and not let them run in the background.

Thanks for all the advice guys, but I don't think it's just my phone that's got these issues as I've seen other articles relating to the same problems. Can anyone tell me if your Facebook gallery still has to be in your normal gallery app on the HTC one after the update?

I think you should go with the device that works best for you.

I chose the Galaxy S4 over the HTC One because it works best for me. I don't have any lag on mine either. Not rooted and most of the features on.

If you can't live with the GS4 then you should get the HTC One and make the best of it.

Both phones are great and there's really not a best, just the best for each and every single one of us.

Good luck.

What class is your SD card? I have a Class 10 32 GB Sandisk and my Gallery is fine. Try QuickPix as an alternative to Gallery.

Well everyone thanks so much for your opinions and advice but I have made a decision, get the galaxy note 3 when it comes out lol my note 2 might have been my favourite phone ever so if the note 3 is anywhere near as good as the rumours say when it's released I will be getting rid of my s4 in the hope that the note has no lag like my s4 does. Until then I am stick cyanogenmod on my s4 before the lag annoys me so much I do a drop test on this phone from a very, very tall building :)
