Good reading - a couple of comments:
1. I don't see anything in here that is Sprint specific - perhaps this would be useful to more folks if it was bumped up (or copied) two levels into the main forum.
2. There are additional terms/explanations that would be useful, particularly for those interested in rooting or loading ROMs. Ex:
- does the bootloader have to be unlocked in order to flash an alternate Recovery
- does the bootloader have to be unlocked in order to flash an alternate ROM
- does the phone have to be rooted in order to flash an alternate Recovery
- does the phone have to be rooted in order to flash an alternate ROM
- are there any rooting methods that don't require the use of a PC and USB connection
- what is 'efs'
-- is there a way to backup/restore the efs partition
- what filesystem types are supported on SD cards (FAT32, ext2, etc)

And on and on...
Perhaps I'm looking for too much; anyway, just some ideas.

Thanku, very imformative. I was given a Sprint Samsung Galaxy S3 but the mobile data has been disconnected, will the recovery procedure restore the mobile data connection?
