Gmail 5.0 download issue

Is anyone able to download jpeg attachments in the side loaded Gmail 5.0 app? I can't and when I try the app crashes. Would like to know if I'm the only one.

Do not know if that is related, but when a client sent me a jpg attachment from his iphone, I would open it and my AutoCad 360 app would open. I tried several things, but eventually forwarded the file to my pc to open it. Maybe coincidence but only from his iphone nobody else..

I think Gmail 5.0 might have an issue with file naming but I'm not sure. When I email myself a jpeg from my G3 I can open it in Gmail 5.0 but when my brother sends me a jpeg taken with his HTC One M8 I can't open those jpegs in Gmail 5.0. When I try the app crashes. Weird...

I have no probs with pics or attachments on Gmail 5. Still hate the layout though.
