Gmail access?

OK, so I have set up my two Yahoo accounts and added my gmail account info for the phone to do its back up magic and all BUT when I go to the generic messaging icon it only opens up the text and yahoo account and the gmail is no where to be seen.

Is this normal? if not how do I set it so it will show up with the messaging icon?

It appears to be normal as mine is the same way. If you want you could set Gmail up under the stock email program and than it would show up in the messaging section. Otherwise the Gmail app is the only place you will see your message count and emails.
