Gmail app keeps opening to other account inboxes rather than the default

I regularly have to switch it back to the default. Is there a more definitive way to determine which account is recognized as the default?

To the best of my knowledge, yes. I don't want to over complicate things, but we have to define what "set up the phone" indicates. Are you saying when starting from scratch?

I have a replacement phone, which I repopulated using Smart Switch? Does that qualify as setting up the phone?

I have both the Google and Samsung email apps. Only the Google app has this problem. Every time I open the app, it goes to a different account inbox than the one I was using before.

From what I understand, you can't sign out gmail accounts on android. They must be removed. If I did so for all the other accounts, and then added them back, would that establish the one not removed as the default?

Yes, that's what I mean.

Go to your system settings, and then select Google, and then tap the profile pic at the upper right. Which account shows up?

I'll check that out, but is this actually a Google account generated issue?

I know, sounds like a dumb question, but I have both the Chrome and Google browsers. Neither one has this account switching behavior.

I don't have experience with using multiple Gmail accounts in my Gmail app, but if it's defaulting to a different Gmail account than you want, I would guess it's because that's the Google account that the phone was originally set up with.

I use 4 Gmail accounts in my Gmail app and the profile I select stays until I switch it
