Gmail app not syncing properly with Office365

[Android Central Question]

Office365 sync seems broken on the Pixel 2 using the Gmail app but works perfectly using the Outlook app. Account adds but does not sync either sending or receiving for about 20 minutes, emails showing as queued in the Outbox.

Are you connected to an Exchange server? If so, talk to the email admin about it - there are too many ways to set up Exchange to guess what's happening.

If not, why are you using the Outlook app? It's only for connecting to Exchange servers.

I'm using the Outlook app and I'm not connecting to an Exchange server.

I'm using the Outlook app, as I prefer it to GMail. One thing that I noticed is that when I make an appointment in Outlook, it will show up on my Google Calendar, except 2 hours EARLIER. I checked my settings, and I'm in the correct time zone, so I don't know WHAT's going on!! It looks pretty goofy having the same appointment 2 hours apart. I'm not connected to an Exchange server, either, whatever that is. I use Office 365 on my PC, so everything on my Phone & PC sync's, no matter where I make the entry.

An Exchange Server is a server that is usually controlled by a corporation where you work.

I'm retired and only work for myself these days (if I work at all) so I'm definitely not using an Exchange server. I used outlook for many years when I was working, so I know it like the back of my hand and really like it. I have 3 computers running Windows 10 Pro and each of them runs Outlook 365 and they stay in sync with each other and with the Outlook app my Pixel 2 XL.

I've always had trouble syncing my Windows calendar, my Outlook calendar and my Google calendar so what I ended up doing was only using my Google calendar on all my devices. Problem solved and all my calendars on all my devices stay in sync.
