Gmail app showing images as email attachments?

So my co-worker got his new Pixel 2 XL but he has this problem where all his emails with images embedded in them are also showing up as downloadable attachments in the GMAIL app? He has two hotmail and one exchange account configured.

Any ideas how to disable that?
