GMail - Composing a message

When composing a message with Gmail, how can you view your contacts and then add them as recipients? Looks like the only option is to type in each one individually (or let auto-complete do it). It'd be nice to see a list of my contacts and then choose each person I want to send the email to.

It's not a feature of the Gmail app unfortunately.
