Hi Folks,

Just go a new DroidX yesterday and I do love it. One minor hitch though. I added my Gmail account at the store and by default it had all my contacts and calendar items sync.

I went back in and turned off sync for contacts and calendar as I use Touchdown for Exchange sync there and have all my contacts there. It seems even though I turned off sync for contacts they still exists on my phone as it shows most of them as having linked contacts. Is there a way for me to get rid of them without losing all my applications in the market.

If I delete my main Gmail account and start over will I lose my apps from the market?

This is something you have to decline when you add your gmail account.

If you delete your GMAIL account and re-add it making sure you uncheck the "Sync Contacts" option you should be good to go. As for your apps, they are stored on Googles servers and associated with your gmail account. They will re sync and be in your market :)

They will still be on your phone.

However, there is a chance you will have to just do a factory reset to remove the google account. Ive been able to do it both ways. But if you do that your apps will dissappear. When you log back into the market for the first time any apps you paid for will be in the list of apps you have downloaded. But if you just remove your google account and re-add it you will lose nothing.

Go to gmail on pc. Delete all contacts. Go to phone, turn on gmail sync, let it sync. Turn off gmail sync.

That is viable only if the OP wants to delete is contacts from GMAIL and lose them permanently.

However. If you wanted you can back up your gmail contacts on gmail. Delete them. Sync contacts. Restore them. Keep gmail sync on just uncheck contact sync.

You are correct. I was under the impression OP didn't care for the Gmail contacts. Backing up Gmail (PC) contacts corrects that.

Certainly a lot less extreme than a factory reset, don't you think? :)
