Sprint Galaxy S8 GMail Contacts Sync Problem

After searching for a couple days I finally found a solution to the all too common Gmail Contacts sync problem. Turns out, it is the power saving mode that changes everything.

I switched to non power-saving and voila! contacts synced immediately.

Now my question is, why would that setting not allow my contacts to sync? Seems like it should have nothing to do with sync. I know, sync uses resources but man, when I tell the machine to sync it should do it regardless of power saving settings.

BTW, I'm on nougat.

Thanks for posting your solution! No reason other than syncing uses battery power. You can also turn that off selectively for individual apps in battery settings.

I said screw it and downloaded bluemail. I missed two very important emails this morning. One was sent at 845 and and the other at 1015am. I didn't get notified until after 3 pm. All power saving off. I made sure Gmail wasn't on the list to sleep. This is retarded.... Hopefully bluemail solves the problem. Also I noticed Gmail wasn't on the list to be able to bypass power save mode on my phone. Actually I couldn't find Gmail anywhere in the battery / powersavig menu.
