Gmail Interrupting Music/ Streaming Apps

When I'm listening to music or streaming sirius on my one x plus when a Gmail comes in the apps stop playing until i go into the notification shade and dismiss the notification. Is this happening to anyone else? Is there a fix?

Do you have your notification volume on? Or silent? Anytime you get another app requiring the speaker it will take precedence. If phone is on vibrate it will not stop playing music.

Yup notification volume must be on. My most hated of all annoyances when I forget to turn it off
