Gmail update causes reboot

When I go to the Play Store the only app to update is Gmail. Starting the 9.4MB update completes the download (everytime) successfully but restarts the device during the install. I've force stopped the app, cleared the cache, even cleared data, and reattempted the update: still restarts with the update still not performed. I also attempted the update in Android Safe Mode and also fails during install.

The update being attempted is for version 2019.11.21.283644823.release, supposedly a 13.75 MB update.

Any suggestions?

FIXED!: I was able to uninstall all the updates to GMail using the Play Store (navigating into the GMail app item and choosing Uninstall). After all updates were removed I updated it and it performed a complete fresh update to latest. Worked straight away.
