Gmail update, now it doesnt auto sync

So after my phone updated gmail all by itself and good maps (while I was trying to use the nav by the way) my Gmail account no longer auto-syncs. I have to hit menue -> refresh in order to get emails. WTF? I have auto sync on. I am getting to my wits end with this phone and google maps/navigation fracking up.

Menu>Settings>Accounts and Sync and make sure that it didn't turn off auto sync?

Thanks for the input but I did check that and auto sync is in fact on.

And you presumably also rebooted as often solves this kind of issue? I also did the gmail update (manually) and have had no issues. You can turn off auto-update in the market app, by the way, to avoid it updating by itself.

Same happened to me. Check the new sync settings for labels and others. After I changed my inbox and priority inbox to 'sync all' it started working properly.

Thanks for the tips guys, I will look into labels again. Might just resort to beating the nearest verizon rep over the head with it instead though. Probably same success rate a rebooting.
