Gmail won't sync automatically on wifi?

These days I use my d1 as a wifi only clock radio/bedroom internet device. For some reason gmail no longer syncs on its own. I have to manually sync to get emails.. anything I can do? Screen is always on so I don't know why it doesn't sync

How strange... Did you try wiping data and cache? Mine is on wifi all the time because I've never gotten 3g at my house and syncs when I get mail.

Mine worked on wifi until I switched off vzw on this droid to another phone (same kind as yours!). Its like somehow the phone shut off all its autosyncing (push?)since it was taken off verizon network.

I don't know how to wipe data and cashe on a droid.

Go into Settings, Accounts and Sync,and make sure your Gmail is checked in your Google account settings.

You want it checked or it won't sync automatically.

You also want Background data and Auto-sync checked too.

I am having the same problem with my gmail not auctomatically syncing. I went into the settings and everything is checked that is supposed to be checked and it still won't automatically sync. Only way I can get it to sync is to go into the program and then manually force a sync. I don't think this is a wifi problem becuase I use wifi at the office and at home, I have a strong 4g signal. Neither location syncs automatically.

Best I can tell, it isn't automatically syncing on wifi or 3g or 4g. I have changed the settings and tried sending myself test emails and it isn't syncing automatically on either of the 3 settings. I turned off 4g and wifi and tried 3g only and it didn't sync. Turned on wifi with 3g and it didn't sync. My normal setting of 4g and wifi doesn't sync either automatically. Appears to be a Gmail issue in my opinion.

I don't think it is a phone specific problem. It appears that it is a global gmail problem with all android phones.

My thunderbolt sync fine.....although once in a great while I get an email like 3 hours after it is sent.

My Gmail syncs fine on my OG and tab so I don't know what is your problem here...are you rooted running a custom ROM?

You need to set your wifi to never shut off if your using it as a wifi ony device because the default setting is that the wifi shuts off when the screen shuts off to do this....

Go into settings/wireless and networks/wifi settings/hit menu button/select advanced/change wifi sleep policy to "never"

Already done. Actually my screen never shuts off since.my Droid doubles as my alarm clock. I have screen set to always on and it is.

I never had this problem until I removed phone from VZW network. I have had the problem.from that moment on.

Would 2 phones linked to the same Google account somehow mess it up?

Dumb A_ _ me had a hair brain idea to uninstall my gmail app and reinstall it. So that is what I did and now it is working just fine. Should have done that weeks ago!
