Gnex Camera (terrible focus)

So i've had my unlocked gnex for close to two months and i love it so far. Does everything i need it to and then some. One thing i hate about it is the terrible focusing issues i get with this phone when using the camera. I don't use the camera too often on my phones which is good because i would probably get something else if i did. Camera is absolutely terrible at focusing. I tap the screen on what i want to focus on, camera focuses then unfocuses, wtf? I'm not in low light either, just today i tried to take a picture, 2pm, very sunny out and still couldn't focus. After about 5-8 taps on the screen it finally locked a clear focus and i was able to get a picture. Is this a software or hardware issue? Is my phone defective?

I have no issues with the camera. I never tap to focus. It usually starts focusing on its own and I just tap to take the shot.

I've tried that as well but it's still hit and miss. Again the problem has nothing to do with lack of megapixels. It's the lack of focusing. Once it focuses and takes the picture the quality is perfectly fine for what i need.

Hmm I have had no issues with the focus. It always auto focused and it did it well. Maybe there is something wrong with your camera?

I'm hoping that's not the case. Quick google search reveals some people having the same issue. Mentions no fix though.

Here is to hoping the Nexus 4 camera is better...
