GNex "Not Compatible" with existing unlimited data plan??

Weird - I added a line to a family plan and it forced me to add a "tiered" data plan even though I have a "grandfathered" unlimited data plan on all of my lines - I went through and ordered it anyway and will call them and change when I activate the phone - Verizon has always been very good that way - I am not concerned.

The line that you just added will have to be a tiered data plan. Your other lines had the unlimited because they had it before Jan. Any new line have to go to a tiered data plan but if u had unlimited before the switch to tiered plans you get to keep it.

I am upgrading from a Casio Exilim with an unlimited data plan for web and after chosing the upgrade to Nexus the website did not offer me a choice of unlimited, so I stopped trying to order it online and will go to a store tomorrow.

That's because feature phone data does not work with smart phone unlimited data.

I tried it again, it clearly says I am on an unlimited plan and that the new Nexus is not available on that plan, I did not have unlimited as a choice. They are trying to take away my unlimited data plan to upgrade, and I am not happy with Verizon. They made me take this smart phone data plan bundle because of the Exilim phone I chose even the the web browser on it is nearly worthless and so I rarely used it for more than checking Gmail.

I also ordered online, and had no problems keeping unlimited data. It was automatically selected as others have stated. The phone I was originally under contract on, was the original Droid. I am upgrading from a Droid X however, that I bought off contract.

If you do not have the smartphone data they won't let you keep it. if it was anything under $30 bucks that won't work.

What does this mean? Of course you can't keep it if you don't have it. I thought the issue was can you keep it if you DO have it....

I have the $29.99 unlimited plan. The Verizon site says I have to change. The Amazon site will let me keep it. I'm going to the store in a little while and see what they say in person.

No problem keeping my unlimited data and email plan going from an Incredible to the Nexus. I was surprised, actually -- I figured they'd make that as painful a process as possible.

<-- 15 year Verizon customer ;)

I literally just tried to upgrade my OG Droid, and I'm getting the same error. Not that I can actually afford to get the phone, I just wanted to go through the process to see what it was like. :'(

My understanding was if you changed your plan in any way (including adding a line) then you would lose your unlimited data plan for ALL lines. If I'm wrong that'd be a good thing to know...

I just purchased mine online, was able to keep my unlimited data. free overnight shipping but I had to pay the full 299.99 (I also used bill to acct).

How does bill to account work? Is it the full cost of the phone on the next bill, or do they spread it out over the contract? Never used this option before.
