Wait are people having issues with their GSM GN or their CDMA GN? OP which one do you have?

I'd say he deserves a rant thread.
This could also tip off some future purchasers.
Like me.
Should these defects discourage me from ordering??

Jelly Bean is an awesome OS I enjoyed it for 5 days untill I sent my (second) defective unit back to Google and still waiting for my refund. My first one was overheating like crazy just from a few minutes of web browsing, you could make an omelette with that thing I swear... The second one had a faulty GPS and there was a bright vertical line across the screen. I also must add that Samsung's CS completely, utterly sucks as well as Google's CS and 20 minutes that you had to wait is nothing compared to over an hour I had to wait to set up my RMA. So I'm very disappointed with whole experience with the Nexus phone. And since I sold my GS 2 Skyrocket which I used prior to my Nexus saga I went ahead and used my available line upgrade to get an iPhone. So here is what I think after all this that happend. Samsung uses mostly cheap materials for their devices and their Quality Assurance is nonexistent. Way too many faulty devices, way too many... Also I never expected from such a huge corporation as Google to suck so much at customer service, I wish they had the same level of CS as Apple has. So all this makes me really sad and lately I begun to think that even if Google will announce new Nexus devices by the end of this year I will most likely go with the iPhone 5 mainly because of the Apple's excellent customer services. I just don't want to and cannot afford loosing money and time with another poorly supported device. Btw I've been an android user for two years and before that I had blackberry phones and this is my first iPhone. ( my family members have iPads though including me so I had only positive experience with Apple CS)

Well my I phone broke and apple has yet to send me a new one. The was a year ago

I've always loved the gnex but I two have grown tired of its issues. I've had all the following problems on multiple devices:

1. Bad signal strength
2. Over heating with minimal use and when charging
3. Case is overly easy to scratch
4. Weird dark gray lines on white backgrounds
5. Non working notifications tones or vibrate.

Its sad since its my favorite android phone but I've now moved onto the s3.

I was considering getting GSM Galaxy Nexus but this form has made me take a set back. Again are all issues different between CDMA GN and GSM GN?

You'll see lots of complaints about signal and battery life related to the CDMA model.

I can say that my GSM model has been 100% flawless. Never had an issue with it since I got it at the end of January.

What about randomly shutting off, the dead pixels, the lines across the screen...etc? The people listed a lot issues with device bright out of the box are these issues common with GSM GN or CDMA GN. The OP seems they went through ba nightmare with this device.

Random reboots aside, the rest is common/typical of most/all AMOLED screens.

Had 2 force reboots back on 4.0.2, but have yet to have anything on 4.0.4 or 4.1.1.

No dead pixels, I have some slight dark banding when looking at a dark grey background late at night on low brightness (lol).

Gotta remember that the people who have problems are the ones you're going to hear the most about because they will be complaining. You won't hear people who have a perfectly fine device (the vast vast vast majority of people) commenting and counterbalancing the people complaining.

I have not had a single problem with the GSM version. A lot of people in the forums complaining about issues have been (in my opinion) either jumping on someone else's perceived issues or just the kind of people who are never satisfied.

So you have not had a single problem with your phone and this is why you think that people who had them are just being very picky and are never satisfied... Hmm mmmkay.... ?I guess i'm being picky by complaining about absolutely nonworking GPS (number 2 important function in the smartphones for me) and a huge bright vertical line on the screen that i can see every time i turn the phone on even if I try very hard to ignore it... You know, if you haven't had issues with your phone- ?good for you, but please don't judge other people by you own positive experience. especially after you said yourself "A lot of people in the forums complaining about the issues" exactly - a lot. things are not all that perfect outside of your own world.?It's a fact.

I always like the look of the Galaxy Nexus and having a Nexus 7 help with my envy over the device. My contract ends in February with Verizon and GSM GN is my back choice if nothing else is out that I like. I want Nexus for my next phone and nothing else. I missed out Nexus 1 because I had a G1 already then left to Verizon for 4GLTE. On Verizon I got the Thunderbolt and missed out the CDMA GN which for awhile now I am glad I did. If HTC,Samsung, Asus, or Sony don't come out with Nexus I like then GSM GN is my go to phone.

I said a lot of people, not all people. Obviously there will be some real issues. And because of threads like "My Nexus sucks and this is my 3rd one..." most of the posts you see will be complaints. All of the many people with no problems are not posting their success stories in those threads so the threads over biased towards those with issues.

Pardon me for posting that I have not had any problems. I'll skip the iPhone owner, troll laden threads from now on.

Same here i have not one problem with my phone. some people are never satisfied.

For those complaining about random shut off its the battery not being seated properly and battery contacts dirty. I had the same issue, i noticed when i hit my gnex on something dead center on the back it would turn off. After playing with the phone i noticed contacts dirty and battery not completely flat in its place. After cleaning and seating battery nice and tight no more issues. As for the over heating of phones while charging. That happen to my blackberries and my wifes iphone4s from time to time. What you expect your using it while charging it will get hot at times. Some people just like to gripe it seems

my new phone seems to eat battery quicker then my previous phone.. if thats even possible.. this phone (the nexus) will go down in history as the worse phone for battery life ever. My phone died @ 1pm today. that is unplugged 100% @ 6:30 am, and spend used for maybe close to an hour total (intermittently) and idle the rest. that is about 6 hours. I might need a new battery but honestly the nexus has never given me good battery life.

I can also say that :-) Best phone I've ever had. If I had to name one thing I really hate about the phone it is the lack of a removable SDCARD and the decision to use MTP because of that.

Yep, my GNEX GPS has generally worked better than that in my previous HTC DESIRE HD and at least as well as that in my previous Motorola Milestone. The overall phone hardware has been perfect for me (although the camera is average).

If you have faulty hardware, I'd get it replaced, and/or investigate what apps you might be installing that interfere so much with your phones operations.
