GO Launcher Crushing My Battery

OK, so maybe "crushing" is an exaggeration but I wanted to get folks attention

I installed GO Launcher on Wednesday and my phone has been giving up the ghost about 3 hours earlier. I used to be able to make it until bed time without having to hit the charger and now I have to plug her in about 6-7p to make sure I've got enough juice to make it through the night (Wed, Thur and Fri nights). I back-uninstalled everything that I installed after GO Launcher this morning to make sure it wasn't anything else (with the exception of a Better Keyboard skin which I figured couldn't matter). I'm down to 25% with 9 hours off the charger.

Is anyone else experiencing battery drain with GO?

Gonna go to Launcher Pro for the time being I suppose.

I didn't like Go Launcher when I used it for a couple hours. I've used LauncherPro since day one on my Atrix, that plus Juice Defender, I get more than a full days use out of it.

Yup. Try LauncherPro or ADW Launcher EX. I wouldnt recommend Go. Those 2 I mentioned have been the popular launchers with Android.

hmm.. I have Go Launcher as well.. I havnt noticed any significant increase in battery consumption.. I will keep a closer eye from now..

I've used Launcher Pro, ADW and now Go Launcher since getting my Atrix. Go Launcher is the only one I use now and my phone got me through my entire work day without issue (5am to 9:30pm).

I tried the original GO a while back and found it to be unstable. After around two days my fascinate started freezing up. Jninstalled and went back to lp+ and the freezes went away. Just my experience.

I've been loving Go Launcher, been using it from my Evo and now onto my Atrix. I'll have to run the other launchers again to just see how good they are on the Atrix, hopefully i can do a video on this soon

I use GoLauncherEx on my Incredible - extended battery. I notice it drain a little faster than normal. I could get a full 2 days on my battery, but now it seems like maybe a day - 1.5 days. IDK also i've been using it heavier, batteryleft widget doesn't show the launcher in the usage screen.

I used Go Luncher for a week. I thought it was a bit cumbursome and I did notice a slight increase in battery usage.

I used GO for a couple days, and now am runing with ADW. They both have their pro's and con's. I used "where's my droid power" to see what was eating up my battery, and it turns out to have been the live wallpaper that I was using. I didn't realize it could have used that much, but it far outweighed the other processes.

I agree with the live wallpaper thing. Every one I ever used has eatin up the battery. Plus it makes the performance sluggish. So I dropped Livewallpapers all together.

All Launchers will increase your battery usage.

I am using go Launcher, today went 12 hours and went down to 40% battery. Usage was playing chess on it, maps/navigation use for a few minutes, email sync and checking, browsing.

Go back to your old launcher and delete widgets still on screen. They will still be running using battery. Get homeswitcher from the market to get back to the old launcher.
