going from froyo to gingerbread

i want to upgrade my wifes phone from froyo to gingerbread. its rooted and on a froyo rom. Can i just wipe and flash a gingerbread rom, or is it more complicated then that? I'm more familiar the epic4g, any help would be appreciated. thx

What ROM? Typically wipe data, cache, and dalvik cache, but it'll be easier to provide custom tailored instructions if you know the ROM.

It's on mikfroyo Rom atm and she want to stay on a since Rom. Thx I was just curious coz on the epic u have to update the modem or use odin sometimes. If its that easy then I should be able to handle it.

You can just flash a Gingerbread ROM on the phone. I just flashed a gingerbread/sense 3.0 ROM on my phone without the sprint update.
