gone All Contacts Oreo sucks

I've never had an issue with any Android update on my S7 Edge. Until Oreo.
All my contacts .... gone!
sucked battery dry.

Too hot to hang on to.
Had to do factory reset so now everything messed up.
Where to go for help?
Verizon is a joke.

What are your settings when backing up contacts and what account do you back them up to? Hopefully not Verizon.

seems the problem was as that I have more than one Google account. my contacts were in the one the the update ignored. fixed once I could log into other acct.
another item... Oreo somehow is sensitive to what ones wifi dns points to. youtube was a mess. so slow it was unusable. fix was to provide ISP proper DNS ip.

Same happened to me with my Nokia 3. I am religious backing up all my data SMS and contacts etc to my Google account. All gone. How can I restore it.
