Good-bye incredible

I see the OP also had 8 Storms.... I had the Storm before the DInc and had to swap twice. The first time was questionable and I wish I had not done it as the second Storm was junk from get go and had to be replaced next day, but I still have that third Storm and it works fine...for a Storm. LOL. I think some people are just pia about phones. I just can't see 8 Storms or 5 Incredibles....

yes, that is pretty much what i experianced after a year with the storm i went to the orginal droid a few hiccups later i was offered a droid x replacement i opted for an incredible and have been very pleased ....so to the op i say good luck with the x hope it is what will work for you if not there's always the d2 and as of wed the fasinate /evo so ...........

Im not a PIA customer.
My 1st smartphone was the origional Motorola Q in black, and i had no problems with it.
The BB Storm1, well i need not say anything about that!
My iPhone 3gs, never a problem, just a crappy ATT network.
My 5 Dincs, a combo of software/hardware issues. The 3rd one lasted a week, and the 4th only one day.

Yesterday was my last day with the Dinc, and it let me down. Headed over to the GF house around midnight, phone was fully charged. Put it on the night stand (not plugged in) with the alarm set for 6 am. The alarm goes off, then the battery is dead. 6 hours of not even using the phone and its dead, WTF?? this Dinc is about 2 weeks out of the box with the 2.2.
I really like the Dinc, even as much as my iPhone.

I believe i read a post on here how phone tech. has out paced battery tech, well i agree.
I'll still have Dinc's in the family though, my dad and GF have them.

Jeff,
Same boat as you.
Had a q9m no issues whatsoever.
went through 6 bb curves, (4 were defective from verizon's refurb)
on fourth replacement Dinc and turns out it was the battery.

It happens.

I actually detoured through South Jersey to get to my parents just to avoid being near NE PA and possibly endanger the DInc. ;)

PS: Tony I followed your directions to a T installing a Zagg on my wife's phone and it came out great. Thanks!

no problem...you weren't the one that said I was an idiot? LOL...
and I am in Soute Jersey (LBI) a few weekends a year too!

That's too bad. Better luck with the X.
Some app or service was running on your phone to drain it. It must not have been sleeping. My wife just got a brand new stock 2.1 Incredible. She is by no means a power user but I noticed she had it on for 27 hours after I bump charged it for her. About 6 hours of "up" time and she still had 15% or so battery left. I was impressed.
I am more of a power use so I got the 2150 battery for $45 from Verizon. I plugged it in last night after 26 hours and still had about 12% battery left.
I went though 6 Storm 1's myself. 8 is the most I have ever heard of, but I don't doubt it.

i know tony. I have read alot of your post, and you and i have had similar problems with our Dinc's.

and NO, tony didnt touch my Dinc:p

OK - I think we need to put a Lo-Jack on Tony. Now that I have two DInc's $1200 is too much to risk when he starts roaming around! ;) Can Kyle or another Dev put together a T-BOD Widget?

And no - I wasn't the one who called you an Idiot.... that time LOL ;)

Hey Good luck with your new phone..I have to say I love my phone.
If my phone was a man it would be a great man... So far it's been reliable ,It never lets me down. It listens ,talks back ! ...LOL !! (ok one time !) it let me down but that was GPS fault..It said "you have reach your destination " No Lying, I was surrounded by the woods .My destination was no where in site! (Bad day for me & my phone!) I got over it because everything in life is not perfect !! So good Luck with all that. I'm sticking it out with my Incredible !

Wow, I must be one lucky SOB because I too had a MotoQ (one) BB Storm (one) and now I'm on my first and only Incredible. Before you think I don't demand much from my phones, I've rooted and installed leaked ROMs on all my phones and do my best to kill them. For example my Incredible was left on the dashboard of a BMW in the parking lot of a golf course in Myrtle Beach in June. It had to be 150 degrees when I picked it up. Worked then and works now. My Storm had a beer spilled on it and after a couple of days it also worked like a... well, a Storm. Ha! Anyway, I bet your problem was with the battery and not the phone, but time will tell. Something tells me we'll see you posting about your second X very soon.

Just wanted to give a little update after using my X for about 2 hours now.

The signal strength (bars and dbm) is significantly better than my Dincs. For the first time in months, i have full bars.

Call quality, incoming and outgoing is significantly better also, maybe because of the 3 mics?

That's all for now.

I've been pretty happy with my Incredible. Battery doesn't last as long as my previous Motorola Droid, but is pretty similar to my previous iPhone 3GS. I've got a new Seidio 1750 slim extended battery which has only had a couple of charge cycles, so I'm expecting it to improve a bit more. Nonetheless, I get through my work day with 50% to spare. And I still have the 1300 mAh original battery as a spare just in case.

As for reliability and call quality, no troubles so far.

Bars don't mean anything!
DBM yes but bars no.
You either have a signal or you don't...phones are not analog.

Exacly, I get one to zero bars in my apartment but as long as it pulls signal, I can call out. Data isn't as fast but I can always use wifi (not the phone's fault, just not the best signal). I wish there was a non-root way to see the dbm in the notification bar

Everything else on the phone as been great. Great service and signal at the office (in an area where AT&T gets little to no signal).

I went through 3 Dincs until I figured out the problem, it was my battery. VZW reps assured me numerous times my issues were not caused by the battery, well, they were WRONG !!

Good luck with the X, I wouldn't want to carry that phone around on a regular basis.

rofl :D:D, yeah rightttt lol .

your actually just talking into one mic tho, I got a dx and an incredible I must have been lucky because I can tell no difference in the signal strenght,or the call quality.

The battery life is a little better in the dx I will give ya that .

Otherwise the only time people can tell what phone I am talking to them on is by looking at their caller ID and seeing a diffferent number there, if they remember which number goes with each phone that is , lol :p

The DX has dual antenna's. In crappy reception area's you will have a higher chance of having a better 'reception' with that phone in those areas. However it's just marketing, you are on a digital system so a signal is a signal and 1 bar sounds no worse than 5 bars. The mic argument would be valid however the extra mic on the DX are for noise cancelling. In a noisy area it would make a difference other than that both phones perform identical.

So essentially if you work/live at a logging site in the backwoods the DX would be better.........
