Good-bye iPhone!!!

One advantage of the shared plan is if you want to connect a tablet. That was a big benefit for me - $10 per month for the tablet and I could use it as a wifi hot spot. Nice not to have to burn up my phone battery.

You're right ;) My wife works from home and has already used the Hotspot on her work laptop when our Comcast went out. Very handy....

Recently, I've been kicking around getting iPhone 5, but after just a few days getting tired of screwing around with itunes and trying to load crap onto my employer provided ipad, I'm not impressed..at all.

Maybe since I gave up on itunes the second I learned about their proprietary file type, I never used it. But what a hassle.

It's disgusting because they treat it as a revolutionary new device, even though it has no new features. They've manipulated their supporters to a point where they'll believe that whatever they put out is far superior to anything else on the market.

It has many features that are new. For the iPhone. It is now on par with the Android phones of 2010.

I carry an Android phone for my personal line and an iphone 4 for my work phone.

I like being able to have one of each and my contract is up in November on my work line and my work will be working me an iphone 5

I'm very pleased with the Galaxy S III though it is a great device.

quick question though, After a year and samsung has released another new phone are us s3 owners going to be left in the dust? Im talking updates. I know apple always has updates for their models. I owned a motorola droid 2 global and after a year of owning the phone i pretty much didnt get anymore updates. Another droid came out and it just left me with a sucky phone with a sucky update. So im just curious if samsung will do the same and just leave us out after/if jelly bean comes out

Most likely yes but hopefully things start to change! I did an article that said Samsung will be updating the S2 to JB so that leaves some hope.

Hopefully Google slows down their updates to 1x a year as well. It will make it easier for manufacturers to keep up. With 2 updates a year before the manufacturers get their updated out it already is one version behind. Hopefully Google realizes this and starts to make some changes to their updating schedule.

Everyone should not be forced to own a Nexus device if they want updates to new software. We should not have to buy a new phone every 6 months either to be up to date. I did fall for the if you want updates then get a Nexus. I used the GNEX for the past 6 months and that phone was crap. Horrible screen, terrible camera and the worst battery life on a 2100mah extended. I can't imagine what the stock battery was like. So our choice is a sub par device with updates or a top of the line device with limited updates.

Why should we have to choose?

I carry two personal phones (s3 and soon to be ip5) and one for business (bb). The only one I really dislike is the bb. Would dump it in a heartbeat if I could.

Well then i may jump ship. its pretty stupid that they do that. Once a newer phone comes out its like they forget about all the others. That is the only reason why I still consider the iphone/apple brand. They keep their devices up to date. Whats the point of having a new phone come out every 6 months if most of us have contracts and would have to pay for an early termination fee plus the phone at full retail price. Apple is definitely the smarter company when it comes to updates

It's largely at the discretion of the manufacturers. Case in point, Motorola, who be updating all of their 2012 models and most of their 2011 models to Jelly Bean by year's end. Samsung has that option, but they rule the Android roost at the moment, so do they really feel they have to.

Loyalty is tenuous, however, and if the S4 (if that's what they call it) is an IP4 to IP4S type upgrade, you'll have ship re-jumpers back to Apple...

What's so dang important about updates? Go try the phone in the store, either you like it or you don't. Doesn't make sense to me when people buy phones or make decisions based on updates. I could be wrong but there really wasn't anything that made me say WOW thats amazing or WOW thats a lot different when I watched the video of an s3 on JB.

Im talking after jelly bean. I didnt think it was different either besides it looking like it was faster(could have been my imagination though). Im saying what if the next update is a WOW thats amazing update and samsung just leaves all s3 owners out of it

Right, agreed. I suppose that possibility is with all phones with the exception of iphone.

It comes with the territory of Android. It's part of the fun. There are lists showing what devices will or will not have official support for further OS updates. It might be a deal breaker for somebody knowing a new phone release won't support an official future OS update. Not everyone is into ROOTing either.

It is so funny how people are using iPhones for work and Androids for personal when in reality you can do twice as much true business stuff with an Android phone over an iPhone. Maybe companies will start to realize that and not cave to the iPhone pressure from their employees.

There have been some big differences between android updates. Once I started using ics my android experience improved dramatically. The number of times my phone has locked up has decreased, but not gone to zero.

You are entitled to your opinion. I have an s3 and love it and also will likely get the ip5. I'm sure I'm in the minority as I really like both platforms.

I too like both platforms but will probably hold off on the iPhone 5. Can't really do anything that the iPhone 4S can't do besides show another row of icons on the screen. The LTE is nice of course, but I'm getting my LTE fix with my S3 running CM10.

I'll definitely buy an iPad mini if they exist, but not too jazzed about the iPhone 5.

I am switching from AT&T to Verizon. So for me I had to switch. Sold my 4s iphone through the apple recycling program. Will pick up a ip5 with the credit. Keeping my s3 also. If I wasn't switching carriers I would have stuck with the 4s on AT&T since LTE hadn't been rolled out in my area.

I agree for the most part they are brainwashed. Where I work several people recently bought the 4S (mostly girls in their 20s). They were showing the 4S to each other like it was the latest thing. I asked them if they knew it wasn't even 4G and they said, "well the iPhone has the best equipment and is the fastest on the Internet." That is brainwashing. I got my S3 out of my pocket and showed them and they were wowed by the size of the screen, the quality of the screen and how thin it is, plus how fast on 4G. They said they now feel ripped off. I'm kind of sorry I showed them my device as now they are bummed they didn't get it.
You deserve a medal for this good sir.

Something we have noticed at my work is that Android phones do not seem to handle large exchange mailboxes as well as iphone.. At least with the earlier android devices we had major issues.

This may be different now but our users are all on iphone at least for now because they are stuck in contract... It's actually another reason I have one of each because I am the support go to person for them usually...
