Good dilemma, But need advice

Wait, can you hear me now? No......, sorry I am on a gNex...let me go to my rezound.....

I am sorry, but right now the best phone on VZW is the rezound. Yes the nexus has a ton of ROMS and is a great device, but the rezound is as solid as it get. We have fewer ROMs, but they are SOLID!

Maxx has the battery...what else?

Finally someone from the Rez camp lol. Does the GN really have reception/speaker problems or is that just a myth? Also will the Rez have the long term support that the GN will?

It certainly does, although I've never had a speaker problem/mic cut out (at least that I can recall, or recently).

The signal issues are hardware related, but with 4.0.4 (and the radios which we have in the development forum, btw ;)) I've seen my signal act just fine.

So if i do decide to get the GN is there anything i can try and look for to see if it has issues before i leave the store or will it just be luck of the draw and "real-world" experience?

See what the signal strength is like when it's activated; compare it to their store units and other phones.

I've never really had a signal issue; I mean, is it strong everywhere? No. Did it drop? Sure. But the new radios have been fantastic, at least on my end.

And the development community, to me, far outweighs any of its faults.

No the ReZound will not have the long term viability of the gnex, and I do know the radios have improved, BUT if i needed a phone right now for 2 years, the nexus isn't it. I want it to be, but this one isnt it.

I wish that verizon would have gotten a different manufacturer for it, and that is the bottom line. I would deal with the verizon delays with updates if it worked as advertised....

In some regards that's a bit unfair, however.

While some--like yourself--haven't had luck, I and plenty of others have. Further, dev support for this is so strong that you're going to see development carry on for quite some time, while support for other devices--Rezound, MAXX, etc.--will probably fall by the wayside. For me, and I believe the OP as well, if development and flashing is your thing, there's simply no better phone out there.

Once unleashed, this is quite the beast .

Without a doubt, you are right. I have never owned a nexus...lusted for it...but never pulled the trigger. be it carrier or other issues, I have not had the pleasure. As of right now, and in the past, Sammy makes BAD radios. It is hard to recommend a phone that cannot make a call. Things ay have changed with 4.0.3 but I have heard that before with sammy (fascinate, charge) "the next update will cure all" and no luck.

I am a flash-o-holic as well, but I need a phone to be a phone

I'm partial to the GN, and I haven't had any issues with mine. If you really want HTC and Sense, I think I would just wait for the next Incredible that's supposed to be released soon. You'll get ICS and the latest Sense.

I hear ya. I've had a couple of dropped calls. Nothing important (knock on wood), but most were my own doing (like talking inside of the lead bunker that is my bedroom).

Sammy does make bad radios. They do, however make fantastic screens, and the front of the Nexus, with just that tiny speaker, the sensor, the camera, and the LED is the best "face" out there IMHO. No capacitative keys, no craziness. Pure, simple, sleek.

For me, the 4.0.4 radios--in both current and previously leaked form--have been a revelation. I have 4G where I didn't know it existed, and my 4G signal, particularly right outside my apartment, is exceptionally strong. Is it a placebo effect? Perhaps. But Wifi has been better and the handoffs between networks has been better as well.

In all, it's everything I thought I had a problem with, but a bit better lol

Sorry, next option is get the rezound. Almost the same specs and you can have 4.0 and ICS on a proven device

You say that as if all gns can't make a call. Mine has been problem free from day one. Admittedly a disproportionately large number do have issues but please don't say ALL of them do.

Yup, I'm on Tapatalk2 :)

I forgot to add in the original post that i have about a year and 3 months left on my contract so in theory I'll only have whatever phone i decide for roughly a year. I have noticed that around a few months ago, Tbolt development seemed to drop off pretty sharply. Which is partly why i asked the question about the long term dev support because dmmark is right, i do "crack" flash. On the other hand I am finding that a lot of people have reception issues on the Gnex. But like someone said "people don't usually brag about how wonderful and bug free their phone is" its usually just the negative. Also I'm not so sure that a lot of people's "issues" were just the cool thing at the time to complain about since other people were.

I would if i could wait. But like i said, i need a phone now and have to choose from what is available tomorrow.

Heh, you read that in my thread today I believe ;).

No issue with what you stated. i WANT for them to be better. I loved the screen on both my say phones and thought the rezound would be a downgrade. If the radios were there whe nI had the choice, I would have gone gnex. I do not regret my choice, whic hI think is important to the OP. either way they get a great phone. The gnex right now will be supported though 2 more versions of android, at the very least, the rezound is solid upfront, but has about a year, and that may be generous.

What is important right at this moent
