Hi everyone, I am starting construction/carpentry job this monday and I am interested in buying a more rugged case for my m8. I want something that is dust proof since there will be lots of saw dust and dirt everywhere. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions. I would like to not spend too much but id rather get something that works and not waste my money.

Otterbox Defender is a great case for your needs. It's dust proof, heavy duty protection and comes with a built in screen protector.

The ones ive found have cutouts for the speakers in the screen protector so it isn't completely dust proof. The speaker grills are my main concern. I suppose they may not make one that does cover the speaker grills since it is a main feature.

If i was in that position, i think i would have 2 phones.
1 for work that i wouldnt mind using and possibly getting dirty or messed up, then my awesome baby M8 that i can use with nice clean hands. LOL

Those speaker grills are going to get filled up quick. Im not sure your going to find a case thats truly sealed like you want it.
THe biggest problem is, sealing it will also cause the sound to not vibrate properly, any audio produced by the speakers will be muffled. Be it a ring tone, or audio from the earpiece.

Well I have an old galaxy s2 that still works well, maybe ill use that at work, except the sim cards are different sizes. I may just leave it in my truck.

Or maybe you can get a pouch type of thing for your phone and carry it in there while you're at work.

After looking at the pics, to me it looks like they left the speakers wide open. Which is fine for being able to hear it, but that goes back to my original posting, you wont be able to dust / water proof it and still be able to functionally use it or hear it. This case comes close but it leaves the speaker grills exposed to dust and debris.

Much better than otterbox.

I think i am actually going to get the supcase and replace their screen protector with a glass one. I think that with the way its designed, i may be able to work out a way to cover the speaker holes.

I don't think you're going to find a case that can cover the speaker grille. That would defeat the purpose.

It is resistant to dust more than the otterbox was. It's a very tight fit which helps against dust.

Otterbox defender does not cover the ports, I bought one, and got dust in my charging port and could no longer charge my phone:(

Try this one. Looks pretty sealed and has the charging And audio port sealed too.
I've had this one and it's pretty good now I just used my One naked because I like to show it off.

Ummm...you're wrong! The otterbox defender case DOES cover the ports...
Maybe if you actually owned the case you would know that.

I also work in a dusty environment and have found nothing better than simply wrapping the phone in a cheap polythene freezer bag. It works 100% and can be thrown away when dirty.

It fits in a sandwich bag too. I work in construction and use a Seidio Surface with Holster and a Tempered Glass protector and don't have any dirt issues. Holsters screen in and the speakers are on the same side, glass protector came with lens covers too.
