However, I did notice that swift keyboard uses the cloud as the storage method, which means that it's constantly communicate and syncing with the cloud storage. That may explain why swift keyboard drains the battery and takes up the RAM.

The cloud storage part of Swiftkey is optional. I left it off during install, and there is an area in swiftkey settings where you can change your choice of using cloud storage or not. You could also probably reduce its cloud activity (if you've enabled it) by going into the data usage area of settings, selecting Swiftkey cloud (if its there - since I never enabled it - id doesn't exist in my data usage area), and put a check in the restrict background data box. It will prevent its use when away from areas where you are connected to wifi.
