That'll be the price on Black Friday. I guarantee it.Note that Google is offering basically the same price point as Samsung without expandable storage and without the IP 68 rating. I don't see why they couldn't have sold the smaller Pixel at $549.

Google decided they were going to make a flagship phone instead of poorly built midrange phones. I see no problem here.
Because I don't want a Samsung phone. I want Google's software and optimization. That's why I bought the silver XL 128 GB version. I've read the speakers are very good and all the hands on reviewers I've seen have been impressed with the speed and fluidity of the OS and the speed of the camera. Google was able to better optimize the hardware and the software because they had full control of both sides. This is the only flagship I'd be willing to pay that much money for. Of course this is my opinion. The problem that people have is these aren't flagship phones. They are missing features that could've been added and don't fit in the price ranges that they are offered in. Why would you spend $859 for a Pixel XL when you can just get a Note 7 with water resistance, micro SD Card slot, S-pen, probably a better display, with more features for the same price? Google made an iPhone. It's only flagship in price... They could've at least added stereo speakers and water resistance instead of having those ugly bezels. And people make fun of iPhones bezels...
I think Google is asking to much for the phones, but I still wish I could afford one.
Phones that give you that:Because I don't want a Samsung phone. I want Google's software and optimization.
Not the same experience as the pixel. I own the 6p. Great device. But I'm still getting a pixel xl.Phones that give you that:
All cost < $450 or less
- Nexus 6P
 - Nexus 5X
 - OnePlus 3
 - ZTE Axon 7

Just don't get it from Verizon. Updates will suck as bad as LG/Samsung:Not the same experience as the pixel. I own the 6p. Great device. But I'm still getting a pixel xl.

Apple and Samsung have brand recognition. Nexus has... affordable reference phones until today.
Stop 100 people on the street. Ask how many of them know iPhone, Samsung, and Pixel. If 1 person knows Pixel, I'll eat a jellyfish.Except, this isn't a nexus. It's a pixel. Pixel is Google's high end consumer line. The pixel c is in line, pricing wise, with iPad and Samsung. Thinking of pixel phone as a nexus is your mistake.
You better hope I'm not one of the 100 people on that street...unless you like eating jellyfish. But seriously that's just a marketing argument. I think between Google and Verizon the marketing will be there. I've already seen a ton of pixel ads during the baseball playoffs.Stop 100 people on the street. Ask how many of them know iPhone, Samsung, and Pixel. If 1 person knows Pixel, I'll eat a jellyfish.

I'm not the one trying to claim that Pixel is somehow an established brand with recognition. Richard Servello is...And that surprises you? The phone was announced 4 days ago.. If Google can reach mainstream America and gain brand recognition on par with devices that have had several years and billions of dollars poured into advertising that fast then holy smokin cannolis...
