Goodbye, Samsung.

I have an iPhone XS Max and without any usage at all, the charge would not last from Saturday to past Tuesday. It's a secondary phone so I don't use it as much but by the end of the day, it's already burned over half the battery life.

The Note 10+ has given me the best battery life of any previous Note that I've owned but I never really did that measuring SOT and seeing how long I can go without a charge. Basically it's a very rare occurrence that I am unable to charge the phone before the phone dies and that is most important to me. I am a heavy user - not watching videos but more recording videos and just using it for everything I can - and those days I use it very heavily, I would need to charge it once a day. But if I'm not really using it anywhere as much, it'll typically last 1.5-2 days but I'm not one of those that is waiting to squeeze the battery life out waiting it to get to <10% before charging. I just charge it when I think I am going to need the juice coming up. Do I worry about battery wear? Nope. By the time I would see issues, I've already upgraded to the next phone.

I think I have like 800 apps installed on the phone.

I am not glued to my phone, but I use it moderately and I have owned enough phones to recognise that the battery life both standby and SOT is far superior to the Exynos Note10+ that I had.

Nothing is disabled on my iPhone. The Note 10+ by comparison had everything I could get away with either disabled or in deep sleep.
I can't speak to the Exynos, but my SOT is great with Snapdragon on both my Note10+ and S20 Ultra. Standby time, I just can't compete with my iphone Xr.

The Exynos version is simply inferior and with the 990 being put into the Note 20 it will be a far inferior phone to the SD Note 20 which has the 865+. It will be like a completely different phone line. Looks the same but that will be about it. The Exynos version just is not worth the money they are asking for it.

See that is how I use my phone. If I am going out I make sure it has at least 80% juice on my S10+ and if it needs battery while I am out I carry a power bank. Sometimes the battery lasts a long time and other times it drains really quickly. I just charge it as I need it.

There is another member that mentioned the same battery stats as mine , did you not notice? And I'm allowed to share my feelings with my Note 10+ .
What does that have to do with anything? Not everyone gets the same battery life you do. And unless you have every single app disabled and barely use your phone don't see how the average person gets 9 hours of SOT. I get 3-4 tops.

Everyone uses their phone differently, different chips from different region ,being on data or poor wifi and carriers can all have impact on battery .

If you having a issue suggest you make a thread and try solving it .

You're not familiar with others daily usage cases. Saying that they absolutely need to have every app disabled is outrageous.

Historically, you don't seem to have much luck with Samsung do you?

I always find it amusing that people jump straight to an iPhone from using a Samsung device for years, without even checking any other Android manufacturer - funny.

Perhaps you should just stick with your iPhone; they are dreadfully straight forward.

Sorry but I have had a the note Line of phones since the 3 and plenty more samsung phones. Also I have had phones from Motorola, Oneplus, Sony, Honour, HTC and Huwaei so I know exactly how to set up and use a Android device. I have hardly jumped straight to an IOS device.

I asked in this thread if anyone has sufferd the problems I had, not because I hate Android but because I was terrible dissatisfied with the Note 10+ and found it a big step down from the Note9 in terms of build quality, the vibration as I looked at a video was unacceptable.

Yes the iPhone is straight forward, but I tell you one thing. I did not have to spend the hours going through the setting and Appps turning off background date and background usage and disabling facebook and other Bloatware.

Actually what you asked was, "Anyone else think the mote 10 plus is a step down from the note 9?"

Plus if you have bad signal in a specific area - like at the office, at home, etc - you will get poor SOT. My S10 had 7 hr 26 min SOT yesterday, which is good. But my usage as well as others' definitely makes a difference in SOT.

I'm a light to moderate user, and am only a heavy user every once in a while. So everyone's mileage will vary here. As Kizzy said above, if my phone is at least at 80%, I know I can leave the house and be alright. I just charge as needed.

It's unfortunate you've had issues with your Samsung phone, and there are definitely others out there who've had similar issues. But there are also users who've had splendid experiences with Samsung. Use what's right for you.

At this point there are two things Samsung would have to do in order to keep me as a customer.
Prices are too high right now for what they are offering without:
  • Flat screen with zero curved edges (these break to easily even with cases and screen protectors)
  • 3 years of software updates (even OS not just security)

What other phones you interested in ?

The OS not getting 3 years of updates can also fall on who makes the CPU. Qualcomm has allegedly passed on updating chips just because they can.
