Google’s upcoming Pixel XL won’t be the powerhouse phablet Android fans were hoping for

I own a Pixel C and I'm on board with the added quality, etc...

With that said, I'm pretty pessimistic about the resale value of the Pixel phones. There's no data on which to base estimates, but dollars to donuts there's no way these hold value like an iPhone.

It's hard to say. I agree, in the past my iphones have sold faster and for more money than my Nexus phones. I just checked my swappa archives and my almost two-year old Iphone 6 plus 128GB model sold for $549.00, while my year-old Nexus 6p 128GB sold for $470.00.

I get the idea about the Pixel line but I just still don't agree with the pricing. Just seems too high too me. But i guess it's not for me this year.

I also have a pixel c...it's the best device I've ever owned. Happy to preorder, even at the higher price point.

Why do you think they won't hold value? Better device in all accounts. Does the apple logo somehow increase value?

The logo and their pricing practices. The Android phones constantly go on sale and undercut the resale values. Apple doesn't. Their tactics (and the logo to a small extent) have resulted in historically documented resale that's far greater.

The value I'd keep by going with Apple doesn't make me ever want to use an iPhone, but it does really bug me that spending money on the Pixel will likely be tossing money down a toilet.

This is the first pixel phone...so you don't really know this. The pixel c has been pretty consistent, price wise.

I stated that in my original post. We have no data with which to compare other than maybe Nexus and maybe other Android flagships. Maybe.

I can't know it, but I believe it is likely.

The Pixel C has far more constrained sales channels. It's likely that the dynamics keeping new Pixel Cs at full price won't be there to produce the same effect with the phones.
