Google Apps not giving proper notifications

I am having issues receiving on time push notifications from all the default Google apps on my Nexus 5. This includes Gmail, G+, and Hangouts. They are delayed for all these apps, if I get them at all. Any help in this regard would be appreciated.

Are you rooted or unrooted? Running the stock ROM?

Try booting into Recovery Mode and wiping the cache partition. It can take as long as 10 minutes to finish on a Nexus 5. http://forums.androidcentral.com/nexus-5-rooting-roms-hacks/352008-guide-nexus-5-recovery.html

I am running Carbon ROM with root but have attempted a full reset of cache, davlik, and system. Even after this and flashing back to stock, I have the same issue. Doesn't seem to effect my HP Touchpad running JB CM builds.
