Google Assistant Fails to Unlock Screen While Charging

I'm not able to get Google Assistant to unlock the screen even while charging. I have Trusted Voice activated and when the screen is on Assistant works normally. When the screen is off and I say “OK Google”, it responds with the beep but the screen remains locked. If I say “OK Google” with the screen locked and then quickly unlock the screen using my fingerprint, Assistant will be on and will say “If you just said something, I didn't hear what it was”, so it hears the "OK Google" command with the screen off but nothing else.

I've tried deactivating and reinstalling the Google app and wiping the system cache to no avail. Any ideas are appreciated.

I have an identical problem with the HTC10 running Nougat 7.0. If I roll back the Google app then the OK Google activation works fine again when the screen is locked and the device is plugged in. I have repoted it to HTC and Google. However, not all HTC10 users have this issue so im not holding my breath..
