Google assistant reminders problems

From what I understand, reports of google assistant problems related to reminders are not uncommon. I've had reminder issues in S8, and now S10e, but now, more symptoms.

I can schedule a reminder by voice, it will be added to the reminder list, but I get no notifications.

One thing I haven't seen other complaints about is, directly after I set a reminder, and go to the list, the reminder says "overdue". All new. reminders do this.

Yesterday, I tried to set a manual reminder. I selected the "+" button in the assistant app, and I received a written and verbal message saying something to the effect that "your voice could not be recognized. Check your voice settings" (as I said, I'm trying to set a reminder "manually", not by voice")

I tried to retrain the voice, and all I got was that little round, spinning icon indicating that the app was trying to get to the voice training page, but never loaded. Now, all google voice recognition ceased altogether. That's how things remained for the rest of yesterday, and today until for what ever reason I was able to get through and retrain the voice, after which voice recognition resumed.

Regardless, when I try to set a manual reminder I still get the message that my voice can't be recognized.

I've tried all the troubleshooting tips I could find, but like I said, I haven't run across anyone with the common problem of this "overdue" reminder designation, or the issue with setting manual reminders.

I was hoping these unusual circumstances would be a clue to what's going on.

Also, is there a way to remove multiple completed reminders?

thanks

Instead of setting the reminder with GA,set it as an alarm (on the clock/timer/alarm clock app). GA reminders don't notify you if the screen is locked, alarm clock notifications do. (And if you already have an alarm set, you can add an alarm.)

Thanks, but I don't understand. How do you add reminder text to an alarm? My aim is setting reminders thru voice recognition. Adding reminders manually using the default reminder app does work as a last resort.

It's the Google app. The last updated broke them. I isolated the problem and I'm sure it's that app. If you uninstall the update they will go back to normal on your phone at least. I hope someone at Google notices it.
Uninstalling the update didn't help

Are the symptoms I described familiar to you?

Make sure it didn't update after uninstall the update.

I uninstalled the Google app update, and disabled auto update. Was that correct? There is no Google "Assistant" app in the app list, but there is in the Google play installed list. I uninstalled it completely, but it still responds to ok google, and takes reminders. The reminders appear in the list, but don't work. So I reinstalled Google "Assistant", but still no reminders work.

Gotcha , yeah you did it correctly but didn't help so can update those again.

Google Assistant is one big break in progress....Every other update seems to break the Assistant in one way or another :-[ it's a shame because it used to be good :-(

Go to the Notification settings and check all the permissions, including submenus, after the update.

I can't believe it. It worked (not that I doubted you )! I just received my first reminder in I don't know how long.

I know sometimes these workarounds can be obscure, seemingly unrelated, but how did you know? I had all permissions allowed except "physical activity" and "storage".

Here's hoping it lasts,

This post should be stickied, or have a neon sign :)

Glad its working, hopefully stays as you like.
Updates have been known to change user settings, and your reminder is a notification, therefore...
