Probably not the right area to ask this question, but just in case, do you know is there a way when pressing against the earbud when settings is set to Voice Command (AI), for Google to acknowledge that you wish to ask a question without looking at the Android phone display. For example would be nice to have the phone in the pocket, press the ear bud and ask a question. I only know this when I have access to my phone display and upon pressing the earbud, Google assistant comes up on the phone. But would be practical instead for Google to mention an audio statement i.e. ‘how can Google assistant help’ for example. Apologies if the question doesn’t make real sense.

No idea why this could be happening (if I understand the problem correctly), but when prompting Google Assistant through your headphones you SHOULD still get the sound prompt to begin talking to it. Sometimes I do get a glitch where the first time I try it after pairing my headphones it will skip that beep, but subsequent tries always have it.

If what you're having trouble is with the Assistant asking you to unlock your phone to do/answer queries, you need to make sure your Assistant settings (not the earbuds) are properly set to allow personal results while the phone is locked; otherwise you're limited to a small set of actions and queries you can ask.
