Google Calendar lets me add a contact tag but does not save it`

[Android Central Question]

I have a Samsung S7 Edge running Android 7.0 and a Nexus 7 running Android 6.0.1

On both devices it recognises contact tags in the event title and I can click on the contact to add the contact as a tagged contact but the tag/contact is missing when I view the saved event.

Both are running Google Calendar V 5.8.4-174035806-release and permissions set for Calendar, Contacts and Location

Exact same bug here. Tried everything. Meanwhile I renewed devices from Samsung Galaxy S7 edge to S9+. But still no contact tagging on my brand new out of the box clean installed S9+. So my guess is that this culprit is in the app itself. That being said, I doubt you've solved this unless you rolled back to a latest working version of the app? Any response from anyone will be greatly appreciated. Thanks and kind regards, Gerard, The Netherlands

We're not doing tagged contacts anymore in the new edit screen. Quick Create used to create tagged contacts, but doesn’t anymore

Well, this doesn't make me happy at all. Not just because for months I've
been searching for a solution just to find Google has ended this valuable
option so I really wasted a lot of time, but also because I'm really gonna
miss it! I really don't understand why these things are discontinued, while
they add that extra bit that differentiates Google Calendar from the
masses. Discontinuing means it'll just be another calendar app. That's
really a pity, too bad!

Does this mean the other quick-add event suggestions such as event-name,
date, time begin and end and location also seize to exist? If not, why
tagging contacts is?

I just checked the calendar app in Google Play, and it still mentions: *Make
appointments quickly: with smart suggestions for titles, places and people
for appointments you save time when you make appointments. *So this is
incorrect?

Really a bummer to lose a great functionality like that! But am I alone in this or do you want it back too? Please speak out!
