My Samsung Galaxy S3 has stopped syncing my Google Calendars (I have two Google accounts sync?d) since two weeks ago, and there?s an exclamation mark next to the sync icon with the following message on the bottom of the Sync Settings page: ?Sync is currently experiencing problems. It will be back shortly.? My other Google services sync fine. I tried clearing the Calendar cache but it didn?t help. I?m not sure if this is something related to the Jelly Bean update (version 4.1.1) although this began happening couple of weeks after this update. Does anyone know how to get Google Calendar back to syncing normally? Thanks!

Go to app manager find Calendar storage and clear data. Reboot phone. See if that works....

Thanks a lot for this. It resolved the issue. It seems to me that this is an Android bug because I previously had a Samsung Transform and once in a while most of my Google services used to stop syncing and every time I had to clear the cache to get them back to sync. I thought it's because of the medicore phone I was using but now I see it happening even with GS3! What sucks is that you're on your own to figure out that no sync is taking place when you suddenly realize that an event you're expecting is not in your calendar! I wish we could at least get a Sync Failed error in the notification area to go and clear data. Does such function exist in Android?

Go to you gmail account on your computer and:

1. click calendars
2. Click on the gear icon on the upper right and choose settings.
3. under the word calendar settings click on the calendars link
4. find the google calendar you are using and click on it
5. click on the link reminders and notifications
6. click on add a reminder

You can set it up to send you an email reminder of calendar events daily. Or you can set it up to send you a text to your phone a few hours before each event. That way if it quits syncing again, you will still get reminders sent via email or text or both.

Help! My google calendar stopped syncing. In looking through various threads, I found advice that suggested I clear my calendar/calendar storage data, force stop calendar, tell google to stop syncing calendar, and then start it back up. Have done all that, and restarted phone, and now I have no google calendar at all. I try to add it back to my calendar and I get the error that I already have this google account on my phone. But still no calendar. I try again to tell google to sync my calendar, and it says it does (in a second or two, and I have YEARS worth of calendar entries on there), but I still cannot find my google calendar on my phone. Samsung G3 4.1.1.

PS when I try to add a new event to my (now blank) calendar, hoping to tell it to use my gmail calendar, it says "Local calendar cannot sync with Google calendar. You need a Google account" with options below to go to accounts and sync or ignore. Around again only to tell me I already have this google account on my phone... BUT I did notice meanwhile that (under HOME, MENU, SETTINGS, GOOGLE) the little syncing circle icon is green, yet when I touch that account name (my gmail email address) and look at the SYNC SETTINGS, the SYNC CALENDAR circle icon is WHITE and not moving. Like it's stuck. This is making me crazy and taking hours of my time.

I'm actually having the same problem now. After following the directions, my calender is blank. I'm so annoyed with my phone at the moment.

I had a problem with Gmail, I couldn't send any messages, it would go through the motion but never go anywhere. I went to the app settings and cleared data and it is working again. Messages didn't even show in the sent folder, weird.

This worked great, thanks!

**Make sure to export your calendars before you clear your data because you will loose all your events otherwise!!

Ummmm yeah....so anyone have a clue how to retrieve the missing events? Clearly I missed the part about exporting my calender before hand

I also missed the part about exporting my local android calendar before trying all of this stuff and have apparently lost EVERYTHING. I had so much important stuff in my calendar, it's really not funny. It will affect my life dramatically over the next few weeks. Someone needs to edit ALL of the postings in this section and warn people to BACKUP or EXPORT calendars before trying any of this stuff. :( :'(
