Pixel 3 can only fast charge from a USB-C port with Power Delivery. So, a C to C cable is a must. Otherwise, it will be slow charge only.

Actually, both iPhone (8 or later) and Pixels now all support the USB-C Power Delivery standard for fast charging (iPhone still need Apple cable with 3rd party cable certified next year). I now have a 3rd party USB-C PD charger and 3rd part USB C cables working fine with my Pixel 3 for fast charging. And with an overpriced Apple cable (Lightning to UBS-C), I can use the same charger fast charge my wife's iPhone X.

TBH, the Google supplied cable is not even top quality. I tried to use it with my USB 3.1 SSD enclosure connect to USB-c port on my PC and it won't work properly. A much thicker USB-C cable solves the problem.

When the phone is charging, I need to be able to pick it up and talk or email , or get on the internet..
If a 20" cord needs to be 20"so it can charge.
Increase the wire size for longer cords.
If a short cord is great for you, great.
For everybody in I know.
They throw a short cord away as soon as they can get another one.
Problem is when you buy a cord.
Does anybody be know the wire size.

I'm not buying a cord from Google.
Don't like a C to a C cord.

Google should of figured this out from Day one.
Rapid charger for Google only.

Has to be a better way. Than only their plug in short cord charger.

Long thin cords would reduce the current suppled to the phone because of the restance in the wire, therefore the phone would take longer to charge. If the charging cable were made longer it would also have to be made with a thicker gauge of wire to allow more current to pass. A thicker cable would be less flexible and could put a strain on the phones usb charging port.

Sounds great . But it doesn't matter in this case . My old moto z droid came with a 2 foot long charging cable (FAST CHARGE) I replaced it with a 6 foot cable . Charged just as fast .

Ha, I thought you guys with the threes were wild about the wireless charging.
I have long cords and I have short cords. The longer cord take longer to charge the phone then the shorter ones. I charge overnight so no matter.

6 foot cords should not take longer than 3 foot cords. The extra 3 feet doesn't add enough resistance to make a difference. I use the long one from my Pixelbook and there is no noticable difference.

And that is what I had always thought Mike. But it is what it is and that's the way it is at least with the cords I have. I don't mind the overnight though because I prefer a slow charge overnight so for me it actually works out quite well.

You can use say a note charger and it will charge slower then pixel charger (that's a tip)

Actually they put out a pretty fadt charger, they just limited the maximum charge rate of the P2 and P3.

You don't, you just need something to limit the charging before it reaches 100% (like Magisk and MCS). My phone won't charge above 80% if I leave it plugged in for a month. (I could set it to anything - I chose 80% stop and 40% start.)

Never seen or hear from any mfg, carrier or anybody say to only charge your phone to 80%.
Never seen any paper work stating that either.

Every phone I have ever had. If it dropped 5% and I was near a charger.
I charged it.

Phones were made to be used.
Why not use them to their fullest extent.

I don't keep a phone for over 2 yrs.

If I have a problem. And its not under warranty.

There are stores that sell new phones.

Everyone different how they use there device or charge it . Is anyone right or wrong who knows. Just stick with what's working for you.

It's like when your car has a problem and you take it to 5 different mechanics due to different opinions or price you end up with a car never running right instead find 1 good mechanic and having it run great you need find that 1 balance that works for your charging and usage of your phone.
