What would happen if I either uninstall Chrome or clear its app data? Will the synced data inside be wiped out? Or do I have to turn off sync before doing so?

I'm reluctant doing it, because I have saved passwords and tabs.

Sorry for the delayed reply

So that means I can regularly clear Chrome's app data so long as I have sync? I don't have to worry about losing browser history?

Also, should I sign out of sync before clearing data?

If you're logged into your Google account in Chrome and sync is on, then any browser activity on any device will show up in your Chrome history. For example, I just looked at the history on Chrome on my Galaxy Tab S9 FE+, and it shows something that I just recently searched for on my phone. Clearing the app data for Chrome on one device won't remove what you browsed for on that device when you look at your history in general.

So that means I can reduce the space occupied by Chrome without much problem, yes?

It's currently at 688MB and as you said, It's a storage thief. Just simply tapping the Chrome app and somehow it'll jump at 700MB for some reason.

With normal usage of Chrome, the data will build up fairly quickly, both from syncing and from ongoing browsing. It's just the nature of the browser.
