Google contact missing - repeatedly, even when manually synched

Just recently some contacts are missing from Google contacts on my Motorola ACE G5 Android 11 phone.

If I manually restore the contacts, they are all available.
But, a few days later, more are missing, and I must manually synchronize again.

I have had the phone for 3 years and never had this problem before.
Any ideas out there as to what is causing this and a solution?

First, go to contacts.google.com on your computer. Do you see those contacts there?

In your Google Contacts app on the phone, look at the upper left (just under the Search Contacts bar) -- is "All contacts" selected? If not, tap that down-facing arrowhead and look at the options that show up at the bottom of the screen, and make sure you select either "All contacts" or the Google account where those contacts are saved.

Yes, "All Contacts" is selected.
All contacts are on the server.

Thanks,

Where are you looking when you notice the contacts disappear -- in the Contacts app itself, or elsewhere, like in the Phone app, or when bringing up contacts in the Gmail app?

They are missing from Google Contacts on my phone. Not at https://contacts.google.com/
If I disable and then re enable synching the contacts are complete.

Pretty odd behavior. 🤔

Assuming all of your contacts are saved to your Google account (i.e., you have no contacts saved to the local Phone account), try clearing the Contact Storage data. Go to Settings>Apps, tap the menu button, then Show System, then select Contacts Storage. Now clear its app cache and data, and Force Stop it. Open Contacts again and give it a few seconds to resync. Now see if the contacts keep disappearing.

Thanks,
The problem is I have no way to verify if any one contact is not displaying on my phone unless I am looking for that particular contact. I have over 700 so that would be hit or miss.
I have synced several times by turning synch ON and OFF. However, I will try your suggested method next time.
Thanks,

It looks like I am going to have to stop using Google Address book and use another app.

I'm not too familiar with current Motorola phones, but can you confirm that it's using the actual Google Contacts app (and not a stock Motorola-provided Contacts app)? If it's definitely Google Contacts, can you make sure it's completely up to date in the Play Store?

Yes. It is the Google Contacts app and it is the current version available form Play Store.

Sorry, but I'm stumped. Not sure why this is happening, and I don't think I've ever encountered this problem in the forums before. :(

I uninstalled updates and the problems seems to have been resolved.
But Google Contacts keeps reinstalling the updates.

For now, I would definitely send feedback to Google from within the Contacts app (under Help and Feedback).
